About me

Hello welcome to my profile, I'm Amanda.

I am a Registered member of the BACP. I work in private practice, and I have a commitment to facilitate change with my clients.

I am a Person Centred Therapist. My way of working is based on a belief, that a client is best able to decide what to explore, and how.

As part of my work, I undertake regular continued professional development (CPD). I work within the BACP's ethical framework for good practice, and I attend regular supervision.

Before commencing private practice, I volunteered at Hope Therapy Services, and The Northern Lights Therapy Services in Scarborough.  It was there where I developed my skills and knowledge, surrounding the complexities of the various presentations of mental health.

The way I will work with you:

I offer a safe, confidential, and secure environment, which seeks to develop the therapeutic relationship. I draw on my skills from various therapeutic approaches, to facilitate your growth.

Our needs change from day to day, and it's important to have fluidity as well as structure within your therapy session. This allows for any unexpected changes that could arise. I work to understand you as a whole ,not just what you bring to the room.

I work to understand your inner most thoughts and feelings, that can both hinder your growth, though also help you grow.

I work with how you are on that day, though, it's important to remember that each day is different. And, this is something that is to be valued within the work we do.

This is part of your journey, and that is,  to find ways to help you achieve your true potential, and to live a life, which is more aligned with who you are.

You are important, you are worthy, you come first. Life has so many facets, the good, the bad, the ugly.  Though, I'm a great believer that we are all like a kaleidoscope, made up of tiny broken pieces, but we make a beautiful picture!.

Business Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-4pm

I offer - In person, Video call or Phone call.

If you feel the way I work is right for you, please don't hesitate to contact me,  via text email phone call or WhatsApp.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
