About me

At times life can be overwhelming and challenging leaving a person stressed, angry, disconnected, depressed even suffering from PTSD. I aim to build up a therapeutic relationship with my clients using a person-centred, non-judgemental approach in a safe space to explore any issues brought to the therapy session.

I believe the long term benefits of counselling can help a person lead the happy and fulfilled life they deserve.

As a counsellor I mainly use the Person-centred model with my clients, incorporating skills from Level 5 and Level 6 Degrees, including CBT, Mindfulness, CFT and any issues with development attachment styles. I work with depression, stress, anxiety and bereavement.

One of my specialisms is working with carers/parents of those with disabilities including hidden disabilities such as Autism/ADHD. I know from personal experience how hard it can be for a family coping with everyday life living with disabilities, from the start of the journey to struggles in adulthood. Disabilities are lifelong conditions that don’t end at the age of 18.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with clients with a trauma and/or abuse background, including historic sexual abuse, clients with attachment style issues from the past and present. I can work with post and pre-trial clients.

I work with children and their families helping parents become more attuned and emotionally available for their children. This approach reduces guilt and shame for both parent and child developing a deeper connection. I also work with children with anxiety.

I have volunteered with charities involving children and families for many years. I also trained with Cruse Bereavement Care as a bereavement support worker.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
