About me

Thank you for visiting my page. I understand that it can be extremely difficult to decide and find someone who you trust with your child and also how challenging it is for a Child or Young Person to seek help - this is why I decided to become a Children and Young Persons Therapist.

My name is Sophie and throughout my career I've always worked with Children and Young People in various different settings such as Private Respite Care, Children Centres, Schools (SEN, Safeguarding) and Educational Provision Units. I decided to train as a Children and Young Peoples Therapist after seeing the lack of successful support available for Children and Young People. I felt that it was time that there was a stable, reliable and friendly face for Children and Young People to come to for various different types of support. My passion is to ensure that children come to an environment where they don't feel pressured, scared or different. I work closely with that particular child or young person to focus on what they need and what will help them to build the skills required.

I work in a Child Focused way which means I will not do anything with a Child or Young Person that could potentially make them feel uncomfortable. During therapy we use all different types of approaches from Emotion Cards, A Worry Monster and even colouring. Children take time to adjust and especially in therapy, hence why I will always follow a Childs lead - they are the most important factor in their growth.

Below is a list of Children and Young Peoples Therapy needs that I work with -

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
