About me

As a psychotherapist and counsellor, I work with people who want to overcome depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, trauma, and other types of emotional pain. I am here to help you explore and process your experiences so you can get unstuck, find relief from your painful emotions, and live a happier, more satisfying life.

I have experience working with various types of emotional distress and my clients usually find relief after just a few sessions. I have an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University, a BSc in Psychology, and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am also a Complex Trauma Practitioner and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have always loved working with people, and before training as a therapist, I had a successful career in public relations and as a journalist, for publications such as Forbes.

To help you experience therapy with me and find out if we are a good match, I offer a 20-minute complimentary consultation over Zoom or other remote platforms of your choice. I am looking forward to meeting you!

Training, qualifications & experience

If you choose to work with me, my mission will be to help you feel better as soon as possible so you can feel calm and strong enough to work at a deeper level. I believe in sustainable, long-lasting change that can only be obtained if we identify the deep-rooted causes of your distress, which then will be explored and processed. In this way, I will help you get unstuck from your painful emotions so you can live a happier life. During this process, you will learn how to work through your emotions in a more productive way, which means that by the end of our relationship, you will be able to be your own therapist.

I am using an integrative approach, which means that I tailor my skills and techniques depending on what you want to get from therapy and what I think would benefit you more in the long run. So, in working together, we might need to process blocks that keep you stuck in depression or anxiety, we might need to work through complicated attachment issues that come from childhood trauma, or to find practical solutions to issues that cause you stress.

My training in person-centred counselling is always at the essence of my approach, which means that I offer empathy, congruence and unconditional-positive regard. On top of this, I use emotion-focused skills to process stuck emotions, and my complex trauma training to help my clients heal past wounds. I also use psychodynamic therapy to explore how past experiences and relationships might influence my clients’ current situations and patterns. I draw from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) when needed, for example, to help my clients who suffer from addictions or who want to reduce stress. I don’t believe in one size fits all, so I will adapt to each client’s individual needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
