About me
I’m currently full but will have space available from the week beginning 18th November.
I want to start by assuring you that whatever is causing you distress at the moment is something you can overcome. Therapy can help most emotional, relational and psychological difficulties we experience in our life, including anxiety, depression and panic feelings. Sometimes talking through your concerns and being listened to, heard and understood, can allow you to see things from a different perspective. It is often hard to do this on your own and therapy can help start this process of developing insight and self-awareness about your situation.
The art of therapy is to help people come to terms with any problems they are facing, with an ultimate aim of overcoming them. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or simply explore their thoughts and feelings and come to know themselves in more depth. Therapy can also be used for self-actualisation and personal development. You don't need to be experiencing difficulties to reap the benefits of this truly unique and precious relationship.
What to expect from me:
- You will be fully accepted (and not judged) for all of who you are.
- You will be given all the time it takes to tell your story. You don’t need to be in a hurry.
- You will be able to give a voice to aspects of yourself that may be unattended to, ignored or avoided.
- Your feelings and thoughts about your experiences will be listened to, heard and respected.
- And slowly, as you tell your story, you will come to a better understanding and deeper awareness of whatever has brought you to my counselling room.
- We will explore how you can develop healthier relationships and behaviour patterns so that old situations do not keep happening.
- You will leave with a clearer sense of who you really are, and how to deal with life from a more integrated and powerful self.
Theoretically, (the technical blurb!) I work within an integrative orientation grounded in humanistic and experiential therapies. I draw on the following approaches; Person-Centred, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt chairwork, Focusing, Neo-Reichian, Process-Orientated psychotherapy, voice dialogue work, family constellations and shamanic psychotherapy.
What this actually means is that I promise you a genuine relationship in which I will listen deeply, be gentle, empathetic, honest and accepting of all aspects of you. But therapy is not just about listening well (although this is so massively important). I also have knowledge gained through my education and experience, and we can use the theory and techniques of the different approaches to help us both to get a deeper understanding and awareness of you.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
