About me

I am a fully qualified and registered Person Centred, Integrative Counsellor with a somatic and embodied approach to therapy.

I offering Online, telephone & in-person sessions.

I offer a unique integrative approach. This means that I will draw from different therapeutic approaches to support the work we do together. In short -  as well as using talking therapy and the techniques associated with person-centred integrative counselling, I will also draw on other somatic elements to support the work we do together (somatic - working with the body as well as the mind). This tends to mean that the work we do goes deeper than talking therapy would tend to allow, meaning outcomes from therapy work can be more successful. Our body is like an archive of everything that has ever happened to us, and so with the use of elements like the breath (for example), not only can we can tap in to what is held in the body, but i will also teach you a set of tools to support you in self-regulation. These tools are wonderful for supporting you if you suffer from things like anxiety or depression and can also feel very empowering as you learn how to take charge of how you respond to the world.

Deciding to come to therapy takes courage & can feel vulnerable and sometimes daunting. As therapists we have been through this process ourselves so we understand and can deeply empathise with how it may feel. You will be met in a  safe, grounded, welcoming, non judgmental and empathetic space where you can show up as yourself, share whatever you need.

The most important aspect of this work is the therapeutic relationship we cultivate together- between the client and therapist, and so it is important that you find a counsellor you resonate with. I offer a free initial consultation so we can both get a sense of whether we would be a good fit to work together. There is absolutely no obligation if it doesn't feel right.

Just like getting to know someone new, the therapeutic relationship will develop over time, there is no time limit, it may happen quickly or it may happen in eight or ten session or even more. There is no right or wrong way and no destination we need to be at, everyone is different and we can explore and process whatever comes up in it's own time.

Its my intention for you to get to a place where you no longer need counselling.

I work with a range of life challenges including, anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, grief, relationship-issues.

Sara work's in accordance with the NCS Ethical Principles & Code of Professional Conduct. All her work is conducted under supervision by an experienced, accredited supervisor.

Clients can choose to work In-person, online, on the telephone, or in the summer months if you are close by, i offer walking sessions in nature. We will work in the way that feels best for you. Remote/online/telephone means it doesn't matter where you are in the country.

An initial 20 minute free consultation will precede our first official session so you can get a sense of whether we would be a good fit to work together.

In person work will be done in a very comfortable private therapy room just outside Totnes, with ample parking.
