About me

Life can feel difficult sometimes. Sometimes life throws us curve balls that we understand and sometimes we don't.  We can't always know why we feel the way we do or what has tipped us to a point where we feel the need for extra support and understanding. I believe, I offer a space where you can feel understood and heard, and that can be a powerful experience, which can lead to positive life enhancing changes. I offer a non-judgmental and confidential space in which you can  express and explore your inner thoughts and feelings. My approach is to think with you and support you as we explore your feelings and experiences together to gain a greater understanding of what may be difficult for you and why. I am trained as a psychodynamic counselling psychotherapist and I use this as my core model. This approach aims to link early experiences and relationships with current behaviour, situations and relationships. I do however recognise that for some of us talking isn't always easy and using other creative ways of expression and understanding can be helpful.

I am a BACP Accredited counselling psychotherapist with over 6 years experience working in schools, privately and in the charitable sector in Berkhamsted and Hertfordshire.

I work with Adults and Children and Young People, over the age of 14

I offer space in a face to face room, in Berkhamsted, or online. Our work together will be one to one and either open-ended or short term depending on your need. Our initial session will give you the chance to tell me your story and enable me to ensure that my approach will be the best one for you.  Thereafter we will meet weekly at a mutually convenient time and these sessions will each last 50 minutes.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
