About me

Work stress, anxiety and relationship issues affect many of us. If you suffer from depression, self-esteem worries, social anxiety or a general feeling of being stuck it may be that you are looking for more meaning and purpose in your life.

If you have acknowledged these personal challenges and you feel you would like some help with them, let me introduce myself – I’m Paul, a qualified counsellor, who can help.

I offer face to face sessions in Chiswick, W4, or zoom sessions.

In amongst everything else, choosing the right counsellor can seem overwhelming and I believe it is essential to find the right therapist for you. I offer a warm, empathic and non-judgemental personal space where we can work together to identify and explore your life challenges and navigate a way through them.

I am a professional counsellor with considerable experience. In addition to this I have 30 years’ experience of working as a qualified finance professional in many organisations of varying sizes and sectors. These years of experience of working with people have allowed me to develop a deep understanding and empathy around how work stress and constant managing of time pressure can impact our everyday lives, our well-being and work-life balance.

If you feel you would like to talk, then do please contact me and we can have a no obligation chat to talk through your issues and evaluate whether counselling with me is right for you.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I will work using a variety of approaches, adapted to you as an unique individual. I will seek to assist by working with you to explore, understand and face your challenges and life blocks and this can involve looking at both your present and your past with you, whilst using a range of tools and techniques.

Is there something you want to change in your life ? Tell me about your aspirations and any fears that you may have ? Or do you have a general feeling of anxiety and simply want to identify the underlying reasons ? I can offer targeted counselling, working with you, creating your own pathway towards your goals.

I have expertise is in anger management (for which I have considerable experience having worked in an agency dedicated to anger management), work related stress and anxiety and helping clients to find meaning and direction in their lives.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied for my Diploma, in Therapeutic counselling, at City and Islington College, qualifying in 2018.

I have extensive experience as a volunteer with two diverse agencies. One working with carers – exploring their experiences and challenges while undertaking these roles - usually for a partner or family member. Loss and bereavement were prominent themes in this agency. The second agency for which I was also a trustee, as well as a counsellor, specialised in seeking to address anger management issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
