About me
Niloufar has post-diploma in counselling and psychotherapy which means she draws on a variety of ways of working according to what her clients need. With over 10 years of working as a counsellor and psychotherapist, Nioufar is registered and accredited with UKCP. As an integrative therapist, she draws on approaches that best suit the issues that clients bring into the therapy room. She works on an open-ended and short-term basis.
Niloufar provides a sensitive, emphatic and supportive space where clients can open up and feel seen and heard for who they truly are. While counselling helps clients to process difficult or painful thoughts and feelings, she believes that therapy can also focus on the potential of her clients. She works with them to identify and draw on their inner resources to live a fuller and more satisfying life. With a background as an interpreter, support worker and employment adviser, Niloufar understands the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies. She works to identify healthier ways of managing emotions and stress. She also specializes in depression, anxiety, anger and relationship issues and has a special interest in bereavement, life transition and exile.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
