About me

Hi and Welcome, I’m a BACP registered counsellor offering short and long-term therapy to adults 18 years plus, either in-person or online.

I work with people who are struggling with overwhelming feelings - often anxiety, panic, and low mood - and as a result they are finding life hard. Perhaps you are also feeling stuck in a rut, unable to move forward, and without much calm, peace, joy or meaning in life?

I offer you empathy, compassion, and understanding, which can help you to feel that someone really 'gets you' and also support you to make sense of your life. I will also offer compassionate challenge, as sometimes transformation comes from feeling seen, heard and felt, but at other times it can be from compassionate exploration of patterns, thoughts, and behaviours. Through this balance, together with tools and resources to support you, I create a space where you can grow a stronger and secure sense of self, so that you can start to feel calmer, more centred, and connect to a deeper sense of meaning in your life.

My Approach
My approach often integrates body and movement with talk therapy. Because trauma and attachment problems directly impact the body, including the body in therapy work has the potential for deeper healing than just traditional talk therapy alone. We may notice together any bodily sensations, patterns of tension, movements, posture or sensory information that arise for you, because working with these can help to achieve balance, and to heal, so that you can move forwards with you life more fully.

Clients have described me as heartfelt and deeply authentic in my approach. As an Integrative Transpersonal Therapist, I may also work with various psychotherapeutic disciplines, for example, drawing on a psychodynamic approach may help us to explore your subconscious - what is just below the surface of your awareness - to bring it into your conscious mind so that you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and why you react or behaviour in the way you do. An integrated approach means I can take into account you as an individual and your circumstances, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.

Next Steps
If you are ready to start or to continue your journey towards self-understanding and wellbeing, please do contact me by email to arrange an introductory session to explore if we would be a good fit. If scheduling or style doesn’t quite match, I am always happy to make a recommendation if I can.

Please also see wildmindtherapy.co.uk for more details.

I look forward to hearing from you,
Nikki

Training, qualifications & experience

My primary training was with Re-Vision in London, a respected training organisation for therapists. I hold a diploma accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). During this training, I worked as a volunteer counsellor at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London and for Clarity Counselling Services in Barnstaple.

Through my current psychotherapeutic practise I work with people with a range of ages, genders, and backgrounds. Previously I have worked with women experiencing challenging pregnancies, older men facing dementia, as well as people with learning disabilities through the charity sector.

I am currently undertaking additional training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-based therapy for addressing trauma and attachment difficulties arising from childhood.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
