About me

I am a qualified, experienced and registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with a consulting room at my home in Mitcham. I offer weekly open-ended therapy or ‘Time-Limited’ therapy (twelve sessions).

Our sessions will take place in a calm and confidential listening environment where you can talk and think about whatever you might be struggling with. It may take time but together, we will be able to gain an understanding of how you might be able think, feel and live differently and not feel alone along the way.

I understand that coming to therapy can be daunting, you have already taken the first step by investigating what help is out there for you. An initial consultation is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss how I could help you before you decide whether to take up more regular sessions.

My practice does not have a long waiting list and I shall endeavour to see you for an initial consultation within a week. I can offer appointments on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday daytimes and evenings and Sunday mornings.

I look forward to speaking with you. Maria.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice (WPF Therapy/University of Roehampton) and a B.Ed. Roehampton University.

I have worked extensively with children and young people and have experience of working with adult men and women of all ages from different cultural backgrounds and of different persuasions (life, sexuality, religious outlook, professional backgrounds and political beliefs)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
