About me

I offer sessions through my private practice in addition to working as an eating disorder specialist for Dr Jo Gee Psychotherapy.

I have worked with a wide variety of people with many different issues, and understand everyone has a unique life experience and in turn needs a unique therapeutic environment. I am committed to providing the right therapy for each individual to get the experience they need from sessions.

I work Psychodynamically, this is an open-ended therapeutic approach with a focus on what you choose to bring to each session. Together we can explore whatever is important to you, with a focus on the unconscious and underlying causes. This could take the form of discussing your childhood, dreams, relationships, thought patterns or simply anything you need to express. As your therapist I will bring attention to patterns I observe as well as acknowledging what you have been dealing with, but the sessions are lead by you to get from them what you need.

Sessions occur weekly for as long as you need them to.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I have an undergraduate degree in psychology
  • NCFE diploma in counselling skills levels 1-3
  • Diploma of Higher Education in Psychodynamic Counselling levels 4-5
  • I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychologists (BACP)
  • I have worked at a Priory for eating disorders and addictions for over 5 years.
  • I worked for 2 years as a therapist for Care to Listen, a low-cost counselling agency in Croydon.
  • I currently work as a sessional therapist for the Dr Jo Gee Psychotherapy clinic as an eating disorder specialist.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Mental health is often overlooked, but it is arguably one of the most important aspects of the human condition. We are all likely to experience disruptions to our relationships, careers and lives, we shouldn’t have to face that alone. Seeing a therapist can help you to cope with stressors, learn to understand yourself better and deal with unresolved trauma or unexpected life events.

Therapy can be incredibly beneficial for everyone, but different kinds of therapy may be more suited to some people and it’s important to find both the right therapy and the right therapist for you. I offer a non-judgemental space to share what’s on your mind, talk through anything and everything in your life, and offer support.

Therapy can be extremely challenging, but should also be a safe place where you feel able to trust your therapist. This process is lead by you, but I will work with you to achieve what you want and need from it.

If you are experiencing: difficulties in your life, behaviours or thoughts
are struggling with a mental health diagnosis (such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders and personality disorders) relate to any of the above or want to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your behaviours then therapy is right for you.
