About me

Psychophonetics Psychotherapy has two parts to a session. It begins with conversation to become clearer on the issues/challenges you are working with. In this phase of the session I listen to you using my own energy system, somatic awareness and empathy to hear you more deeply, to help you to hear yourself more deeply and to come to new understanding of what it is you are working with. With this understanding unfolds a clearer sense of where it is you are really wanting to develop/change or grow, in the light of the challenges you are facing. Every challenge or issue is an opportunity for growth and within these sessions, together we come to know your growing point.

Once this is clear I will ask you to "make a wish", to set an intention/direction for moving forward. At this point we begin to work and process through somatic awareness, gesture, visualisation and sound. It is here that we will see the patterns which have been holding you back and it is here that we will be able to understand what is needed to change them. This is a creative act born from your individuality and your own sense of what is right for yourself. This is often a moment of deep self empathy, understanding and growth.

Psychophonetics can help you to own the ground you are currently standing on, so that you can be clearer in your choices of how you would like to move forward. It then supports you in creating this as a living experience in what we term, the 'action phase' of the session. Here you begin to have a felt experience of who you are in your own becoming.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

The trainings I have been through and how they inform my practice:

My foundational training is in Psychophonetics Counselling, which is an embodied approach of empathic listening and transformational coaching with the client.  This methodology uses physical gesture (gesturing through hands or whole bodies how the experience feels), sound resonance (finding a sound which resonates with the experience, which ‘feels right’) and visualisation - to see beyond the physical into the energy which shapes the experience. This training taught me that within every emotional wound is the intelligence of the healing which is needed and how to resource this healing. It taught me to trust in the power of the human heart to heal from even the deepest hurts. It taught me to hold space with love, courage and awareness of the inner direction and impulse of my client.

Play and Creative Arts Counselling for Children and Young People - I have since expanded my practice to include children and young people and I did this through the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy on a course called Creative Counselling for CYP.  This has given me a creative language to work with all age groups, using music or sound (generally percussive instruments), art, movement or dance, visualisation, storytelling and play. This training taught me how to adapt my way of working to meet children and young people, through play and creativity. It taught me to touch a little more lightly with less direction, with more awareness of the ever changing moment to moment connectivity between myself and my client.

Love and Authenticity Coaching - I have recently adapted my practice to working online and for this, this therapeutic coaching course has been very helpful in giving me tools to move quickly with a client to find the underlying root beliefs which affect the patterning of their life, so that new beliefs and patterns can be created, ones which are in alignment with their authenticity. Through this training, I was reminded of the power of authentic connection, with one self and with another. It reminded me to stay connected to my own alignment and to maintain a loving vibration within my sessions. This training reminded me that within this moment and the connection we hold with another there is always guidance and loving direction waiting to be brought into being. Love and Authenticity coaching has brought a fuller and deeper sense of wholeness to the way I work.
