About me

Hello and welcome

If you have reached me or my website, I understand that there may be a part of yourself that feels uncomfortable, unmanageable and perhaps a bit scared of what's going on for you today. But you are here and these are your first steps to recovery and true self-care.

I am CPCAB trained both with adults and children and continually train to meet the needs of my clients.

Everybody deserves to be listened to in a non-confrontational, non-judgemental way and that’s what I will provide you with; a safe and comfortable space to be able to talk and to be heard. Sometimes this will not be easy but we’ll work with that, because therapy can be uncomfortable and deeply emotive, but you will always be in a boundaried, safe space in order to be yourself. I will move with you at your pace. We will work together and I will be guided by your needs.

"The wound is the place where the light enters you" - Rumi

I am a trauma-trained and informed therapist with previous experience as a Counselling Lead in both primary and secondary schools. I was also a sexual violence counsellor at Rape Crisis Oxford and a counsellor at One in Four in South London. I now work in a small but thriving private practice from home (in person & online) and in the capacity of walk & talk.

I understand that our childhood and adolescent experiences can haunt us in adulthood and that very powerful feelings can come up for us at any time which affect our behaviours and make us feel unsafe and un-boundaried. My experience as a therapist is to hold the space with you in these difficult times and help to work through the feelings which can feel overbearing. With care, empathy, commitment and non-judgement, we work together in sessions towards a sense of enlightenment and empowerment with renewed energies to make change. With commitment and total openness, we work together to enhance relationships and to feel harmony and contentment in your life.

Please visit my website for details about what I offer. However, in a nutshell, I can offer a FREE 20-minute consultation over the telephone or on video call which helps you and I to decide if we are the right fit and also if my style of therapy works for you.

The first session takes place either on the telephone or via video call, or in person as we take to the outdoors for a 'walk and talk'. This proves popular for clients who prefer movement as opposed to being still. Young people are particularly in favour of this medium. I also do home visits for therapy if there is guaranteed privacy and its difficult for you to leave the house (mobility difficulties/new baby/conditions which mean you struggle to leave the house).

My work is varied but has become very adaptable to the global life changes we are experiencing.

Single session counselling is also another option, whereby after the initial consultation you may decide that one focus-driven session to harness your strengths and acknowledge your personal goals and inner resources is all you need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
