About me

Welcome to 'A Safe Place to Begin',

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist - Systemic and Mindfulness Practitioner - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Hypnotherapist and Clinical Therapeutic Supervisor.

I currently work by appointment, in the Kings Lynn area of West Norfolk, Central London and Hampshire. Therapeutic Workshops and small Mindfulness Groups are also available during 2017/18 at various venues. I also work on line with client who are unable to travel to face to face appointments.

Counselling can be seen as an investment in both your personal development and wellbeing. I appreciate that finding the right therapist may be both difficult and time consuming. Often many hours of research is required before finding a therapist that you feel able to work with.Trust and confidentiality are also important factors that need to be considered when entering into any 'Therapeutic Contract' or 'Counselling Agreement'.

If you have any questions about the way I work or what level of confidentiality I offer please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your needs.

Practice Addresses:
Free off road car parking, subject to space. public transport links are all well established.

Appointments:
Monday to Friday
7.00am to 9.00pm

I work with Male and Female clients either as a...

  • Individual, in a face-to-face setting, by telephone or on line via Skype/Vsee or Face Time.
  • Couple, in a face-to-face setting only.
  • Groups
  • Mixed group attending the weekly Mindfulness Practice
  • Mixed group attending Therapeutic Workshops
  • Same sex [themed] support group work.

Please note:

Before any counselling or psychotherapy agreement can be offerd each person will be invited to attend an initial assessment appointment. You will be invited to ask any questions you may have, discuss what has brought you to therapy at this time and to say what you hope or would like to achieve by having therapy at this time. I will ask you some background questions and seek information relating to your medical history - medication and lifestyle choices, this is normal and for your protection. This meeting will also give you the opportunity to see if you would like to work with me as your therapist. I hope that by doing so you will have a clear understanding of what I am offering you from the outset. To assist you in making your decision we will also discuss confidentiality, fees and my cancellation policy.

Who I Work With:

I work with individuals in an integrative manner and use
various elements of my training to do so, in a way that is best suited to your individual needs and always within my competency level. I work systemically with couples and families. Groups are either experiential - educational workshops - supportive or mindfulness based group practice.

The following theories or philosophies will underpin our work together and these are, Psychodynamic - Person or Client Centred - Cognitive Behavioural - Existential - Systemic or Mindfulness based.

My aim is to provide a warm, respectful, compassionate and non-judgemental space that is both confidential and safe, so that you can safely work on changing aspects of your life that are no longer desired or helpful to you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

I respect diversity and offer a non-discriminatory practice. Appointments for disabled clients may be arranged at the CR4 venue during the day and subject to an assessment. The facilities there offer good access for disabled visitors.

My special interest is in trauma work, particularly with regard to Childhood Sexual Abuse: Domestic Abuse and Work based Trauma for professionals who work at the 'coal face' such as Police Officers, Prison Officers, NHS medical staff and Doctors, Armed Forces Personnel or anyone else who may prefer to seek independent support.

I understand how such working conditions can and often do, impact upon the life of the individual and on the relationships that they have with others.
