About me
Welcome to 'A Safe Place to Begin',
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist - Systemic and Mindfulness Practitioner - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Hypnotherapist and Clinical Therapeutic Supervisor.
I currently work by appointment only in Lymington Hampshire and Central London. Therapeutic Workshops and small Mindfulness Groups are also available during 2022/23 subject to COVID guidelines. I also work on line with insurance companies who provide EAP to their staff members and clients who are unable to travel or who would prefer to work online.
Counselling can be seen as an investment in both your personal development and wellbeing. I appreciate that finding the right therapist may be both difficult and time consuming. Often many hours of research is required before finding a therapist that you feel able to work with.Trust and confidentiality are also important factors that need to be considered when entering into any 'Therapeutic Contract' or 'Counselling Agreement'.
If you have any questions about the way I work or what level of confidentiality I can offer you please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss further.

I will ask you some background questions and seek information relating to your medical history - medication and lifestyle choices, this is normal and for your protection. This meeting will also give you the opportunity to see if you would like to work with me as your therapist. I hope that by doing so you will have a clear understanding of what I am offering you from the outset. To assist you in making your decision we will also discuss confidentiality, fees and my cancellation policy.
Who I Work With:
I work with individuals in an integrative manner and use various elements of my training to do so, in a way that is best suited to your individual needs and always within my competency level. I work systemically with couples and families. Groups are either experiential - educational workshops - supportive or mindfulness based group practice.
The following theories or philosophies will underpin our work together and these are, Psychodynamic - Person or Client Centred - Cognitive Behavioural - Existential - Systemic or Mindfulness based.
My aim is to provide a warm, respectful, compassionate and non-judgemental space that is both confidential and safe, so that you can safely work on changing aspects of your life that are no longer desired or helpful to you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My special interest is in trauma work, particularly with regard to Childhood Sexual Abuse: Domestic Abuse and Work based Trauma for professionals who work at the 'coal face' such as Police Officers, Prison Officers, NHS medical staff and Doctors, Armed Forces Personnel or anyone else who may prefer to seek independent support.
I understand how such working conditions can and often do, impact upon the life of the individual and on the relationships that they have with others.
