About me

I provide a safe, peaceful environment to explore the many issues clients bring. After you contact me, we will arrange a 50 minute face to face assessment. This gives us both an opportunity to assess if we are a ‘good fit’ and are happy to go ahead and work with each other. We will then find a suitable weekly time slot, and will start the process of weekly counselling, to be held at the same time every week. I am amenable to our sessions occasionally being conducted by What’s App video call if, for example, you have a job which requires travel away from the area. However, ideally this shouldn’t happen more than once every few months.  Some issues can be addressed in a shorter time frame than others, but this is dependant on the severity of the difficulties being experienced.

I have had experience working with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, couples counselling, post natal depression, eating disorders, self harm, suicidal thoughts, bereavement, domestic violence, sexual abuse, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, questions around sexuality and / or gender, FGM. Alternatively, you may not have experienced any of these things, yet feel something in your life isn’t quite right, but you can’t identify what. Or you may find yourself making the same mistakes over and over again, but have difficulty understanding why.

My training at the Minster Centre involved years of personal therapy, which I believe is vital in understanding my clients perspective. I know how difficult it can be seeking out therapy or counselling, as well as how tough it can feel to do the work itself.

Training, qualifications & experience

UKCP - accredited MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (awarded by The Minster Centre, one of the leading Integrative Psychotherapy training institutes in Europe.)

Through my NHS placement with Flying Start, I worked with new parents coping with the difficulties having children can present, as well as exploring historical issues that becoming a parent can bring to the fore.

Via Confer and The Minster Centre, I attend many further specialist trainings each year.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

UK Council for Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
