About me

I am a qualified Gestalt therapist practising in Brighton, Hove, Shoreham By Sea & Worthing . I recognise that taking the first step into therapy is a difficult one. Therefore, I will offer you a safe, calm and inviting space to bring in your difficulties, sadness and, at times, sense of hopelessness. Together, we will create an environment where you will feel able to unpack your challenges by increasing your self-awareness, self-acceptance and with a clearer sense of self. I am interested in how these difficulties affect you in the ‘here and now’ so we can explore healthier ways or approaches for you living your life. I am with you the whole way as you transform and create the life you have always wanted to live.

During our work together, I will bring in creative interventions to further support you to understand 'who you are' and with the use of exploratory work we can figure what your 'blind spots' are and what has been holding you back or creating barriers for you in your life.

My experience is that it is never too late to find our way back to a sense of belonging and connection within ourselves. It is often by acknowledging that something inside us feels empty or unfulfilled that we find the motivation to create a change. Therapy can provide the key to unlocking your potential for a more meaningful and satisfying life.

I am a registered  Gestalt therapist and a member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

In addition to Gestalt therapy, I have training in DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) which is an evidenced based therapy that has had beneficial effects when working with people who have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), Mood Disorder and working with suicidal ideation. I use elements of DBT in my Gestalt work if I feel it will be a supportive intervention to the work.

I have over twenty years of experience supporting adults in the UK and overseas with addiction issues, childhood and adulthood trauma, neglect, low self esteem,  bereavement & grief, physical and sexual abuse, sexuality, identity, relationship difficuties, anger, anxiety, depression & disabilities. I have also experience of working with eating disorders, OCD & phobias. I can provide you with a listening ear that you yearn for and a space for you to bring yourself authentically and without the fear of being judged.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I offer a space for clients to explore and deepen their understanding of their sexuality and I provide gay affirmative therapy to the LGBTQI community and others that are struggling with their identity.

Fees

£55.00 per session

Additional information

Depending on your financial circumstances my fees are negotiable. However, if you feel you cannot commit to weekly therapy, we can discuss  the options of fortnightly sessions (though this would only be possible via online therapy sessions).

Further information

I offer a free 20 minute introductory call to discuss your presenting needs and for me to tell you a little bit how I work.

If you would like to proceed, the first session will cover a thorough assessment of your needs & difficulties. This information will provide me with the opportunity to undestand the history of the problems you are experiencing. In addition, the assessment will provide space for you to describe to me how you are feeling and what you hope for from attending therapy.
