About me

It can be daunting to make the decision to get help & you need to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with. I offer a free initial consultation so that you can ensure that I am the right counsellor for you and that you will get the best results from our time together.

HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?

If you are considering counselling you may already be thinking about the changes that you want to make to your life. If you would like to discuss your options I can offer you a free 20 minute consultation so that you find out if counselling is right for you, without any obligation to commit to further time. This will also let us meet so that you can explain your issues and we can talk about how counselling could help you. Our time together will always be completely confidential and provide you with a safe place to explore your options.

Some of the many issues that I can help you with are: stress and anxiety, depression, addictions, low self esteem and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), grief and loss. I can also support you with anger management, OCD, relationships or marital / family problems and work related stress. I have a personal interest in using therapy to help manage chronic pain conditions.

I believe that we need to have an unconditional collaborative relationship so that together we can uncover the beliefs and behaviours that maybe holding you back. Our time together will give you the space to explore your options and to find your way past your problems.  At times we are all susceptible to ruminating thoughts and introversion which may lead us into negative thinking, often seeming that there is no way out. We are all unique and wonderfully different in our individuality, but for us all pain is pain. With support together we can find a way to heal the hurt and the pain, whether it be it emotional or psychological in its origin.

It can feel like a big step to make the decision to talk to a counsellor, but taking the first step is always the hardest, so please be assured that I will provide you with support and encouragement to make our time together a rewarding experience for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

MY BACKGROUND

I have a background in over 10 years in a Senior Management role in the NHS and after 20+ years in a desk job decided to change my career to allow me to be able to give back some of the knowledge that I have gained.  I re-trained as a Counsellor over ten years ago, as having seen the effects of stress on both myself and my colleagues over the years, I wanted to understand how and why we succumb to emotional pressures. Learning about psychotherapy and having benefited from counselling myself, I now enjoy being able pass on my knowledge on and help others to become the person that they know that they want to be, and can be.

MY EXPERIENCE

This is not an exhaustive list of the conditions I can help you with so please contact me if you need more information.

I have diplomas in Psychotherapy  Counselling and working with Sexual Assault.

I have extensive experience in working with autistic spectrum relationship issues.

I continually update my training and have undertaken further training in Mindfulness and use this when working with chronic pain and illness.
