About me

Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting and for some a very anxious process. My role is to make this an easier experience. You can contact me via, call, text or email (without any obligation). I will look to answer any questions you may have, explain a little of the counselling process, about me and how I work, for us to see if I am the right person for you. This is a free 30 minute ‘check it out’ session via phone or in person.

Although I can’t change your past or current experiences, my belief is that we all have the potential to grow and learn from our interactions with others and ourselves. Counselling can offer a confidential, non-judgmental space to make sense of our experiences, to highlight our needs and wants, our triggers, resilience and resourcefulness

If you decide that I am the counsellor for you, then I will join you in whichever life events have brought you to seek support, exploring how your experiences have impacted you, challenged your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. For this to feel like a comfortable, safe space I commit to offering a caring, supportive and where appropriate challenging environment, with the hope of the best outcomes for you. For some this is simply a person to listen and hear your life’s journey.

I am trained to work with children, young people and adults. For those who struggle to put into words their thoughts feeling and experiences I offer a creative and playful approach, adapting this to work with the communication, style and pace that works for you. This includes short term (6 weeks) and longer term.

I have worked in various settings as a therapist and clinical supervisor, including private practice, employee assist programme, education system and NHS, offering emotional support to adults, families and children who come from diverse social economic backgrounds.

Parents/Carers

Working for a leading mental health charity I have gained experience in working with parents and carers, exploring communication, behaviour and healthy boundaries to help build stronger healthier family dynamics. Young people’s life challenges can impact parent and carers mental health, often leading to breakdown in relationships. If you are a parent/carer of a young person who is struggling with their mental health it can often be a confusing and emotional time for you. Please feel free to get in touch if you feel you could benefit from exploring this with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
