About me

Hello and welcome. Looking for a counsellor, or beginning therapy can be rather daunting and confusing. Be encouraged. Keep going.

Maybe you are here because life has thrown you some unwelcome events, or a crisis. Maybe you have been struggling with difficult thoughts, inexplicable anger, loss of self-confidence, feelings of anxiety, sadness or depression. Or perhaps you are looking to improve your relationships. Maybe you don't know exactly why you are here, but only that you are seeking change for the better.

Be encouraged. I deeply believe that wherever you find yourself now, you can find your way to a better future.

I am committed to offering you a safe, trauma-informed space, supported by my consistent, warm and relational way of being. My integrative background means that I'm trained in a wide range of different therapeutic interventions that I can draw from sensitively and appropriately, according to you and your unique needs. These may include, for example, exploring at thoughts, understanding feelings and behaviours, increasing embodied awareness, understanding your attachment styles, developing relaxation techniques, creative enquiry, inner parts work and coaching among other things.

What next?

If you think I might be able to help you on your next step to living, feeling and relating better, please email me or phone me (you can leave a message confidentially) and I will aim to respond to you as soon as possible - and definitely within two days. I will be as flexible as I can to find a time for an initial assessment session. This can be online, by phone on in person. I will assist you in feeling comfortable around issues relating to phone or online sessions if you feel concerned about this, and happy to respond to any queries or concerns that you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
