About me

Helping You Navigate Life’s Challenges with Awareness and Compassion

Hi, I’m Kathleen, a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor offering support for adults of all ages. I provide a grounded, compassionate space where you can explore your experiences, develop self-awareness, and build resilience.

How I Work
My approach is person-centred and embodied, meaning you set the pace, and I help you tune into your own inner wisdom. I integrate:

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) – supporting you in developing greater self-kindness and emotional balance.
  • Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) & Parts Work – helping you connect with your inner experience through the felt sense, exploring different parts of yourself with curiosity and compassion.
  • Trauma-Focused Therapy – helping you process past experiences in a safe and supportive way.
  • Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness – using mindfulness practices tailored for safety and emotional regulation, particularly for those with trauma histories.
  • Hakomi – a gentle, somatic approach that brings awareness to unconscious patterns and supports self-discovery.
  • Expressive Approaches – including sand tray, mark-making, art work, sound, movement, creative writing, and journalling as ways to explore emotions and personal narratives.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy – structured, goal-oriented hypnotherapy for specific issues such as phobias or smoking cessation.

Who I Work With
I work with clients experiencing:

  • Stress, anxiety, depression, self-blame, shame, or low self-esteem
  • Relationship challenges, breakups, or adjusting to life alone
  • Major life transitions, such as mid-life changes, retirement, career shifts, menopause, or empty nest
  • Health challenges, social anxiety, isolation, or post-pandemic reintegration
  • Estrangement from an adult child, parent or family member – working on communication, attachment styles, navigating loss, and developing emotional maturity
  • Trauma, PTSD, or bereavement – supporting healing and resilience
  • LGBTQ+ clients – offering an affirming space to explore identity, relationships, and personal experiences
  • Neurodivergent clients – including those who are autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent, supporting self-understanding, emotional regulation, and navigating the world in a way that works for them

Workshops, Retreats & Coaching
In addition to individual therapy, I offer:

  • Workshops & retreats teaching Felt Sense Focusing skills and Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness
  • Creativity coaching for individuals or groups in creative and performance fields, both online and in retreat settings

If you’re looking for support, feel free to reach out. Our next step will be to have a brief free phone call to explore your needs and to see whether the way that I work would be a good match for you.

We’ll work together to find an approach that suits you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
