About me
Hi, I am Kathleen. My aim is to help clients to fully experience their own lives and to explore how to use their own inner wisdom and intuition to help themselves build self-awareness, resilience and self-compassion.
I work with adult clients of all ages. I primarily work with the body through felt-sense Focusing Oriented Therapy, Hakomi and Mindfulness.
I integrate Compassion Focused Therapy into my work, which is a way of helping clients to become kinder to themselves and others.
We may also work with expressive therapies, which may include writing, art, crafts, mark-making, screenwriting, sound, filmmaking or drama to suit the clients interests and skills. I also coach creatives in these areas as part of my coaching practice.
I often work with adults experiencing estrangement from an adult child or a parent. Developing communication skills, self-awareness, attunement, building a secure attachment style and working towards greater emotional maturity.
I also work with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, bereavement, sleeping difficulties, self-blame, shame, or low self-esteem.
I work with clients experiencing relationship issues or breakups, or who may be newly exploring dating or life alone after a life transition.
Some clients come for therapy as they navigate changes in their lives, for example they may be coming out as LGBTQ+. Or they may be experiencing challenges at particular points in life, such as mid-life, empty nest, menopause, retirement, leaving the services, career change, health challenges, social anxiety or isolation.
Some clients may be adjusting to living in a post-pandemic world and need support reintegrating those activities that they let go of, such as going to work in an office, taking an exercise class, or reintegrating socialising back into their lives.
How do I work?
I work in an embodied and mindful way, where the client is in the one in the driving seat and where I am a helpful passenger offering attuned and embodied insight and reflection along the way.
I am a fully-qualified Person-Centred counsellor, also offering Focusing-Oriented Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Trauma Focused Therapy.
I also teach Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness to individuals and groups. I also teach felt-sense Focusing skills, as well as running workshops and retreats.
In addition, I offer Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (in an in-person setting).

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
