About me
Reg UKCP, MBACP (Snr Accred.)
PG Diploma in Clinical Supervision
MA Gestalt Psychotherapy (Distinction)
UKCP Psychotherapy Practitioner Diploma, Individual and Group Psychotherapy
PG Dip. Gestalt Psychotherapy
PG Cert. Couples and Relationships Counselling
BACP-Accredited Diploma in Counselling
I'm a clinical supervisor, a UKCP-registered individual, couples and group Gestalt psychotherapist and a BACP senior-accredited counsellor working in private practice and within a GP surgery. I'm also a music industry therapist for Universal Music UK, BAPAM (British Association for Performing Arts Medicine), Help Musicians UK, Music Minds Matter and a therapist for BackUp Tech.
Before this, I was an honorary psychotherapist for Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust north London forensic service, a counsellor and mental health mentor across different London universities, and a Samaritans helpline listener. I was a copywriter for Samaritans during their male-suicide research campaign in partnership with railway network. I've worked with refugees and looked after children leaving care for Mind in Haringey, and was a ChildLine school ambassador.
Alongside therapy, I'm a magazine editor, podcaster, freelance journalist and writer, and the author of 'How to Understand and Deal with Health Anxiety', 'How to Understand and Deal with Stress' and 'Your Mind Matters: How to Talk about Your Mental Health'. I work with journalists experiencing vicarious trauma through their work, and I routinely appear in the press and media on mental health related issues.
My style is warm and empathetic: my aim isn't to interpret or define you, but to support you to define yourself. I don't give advice but focus on getting to the crux of your underlying feelings when you remove society's expectations from the picture. Sessions with me can often feel two-way and reflective, with lots of dialogue; other times they are more playful and creative using chair work, objects, drawing, music, movement, and dreamwork.
I'm currently running groups for women ambivalent around the decision of whether to become a mother.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
My preferred method of contact is email. To contact me, please email me through this site or send a text message with your name and contact details and I will get back to you by email at my earliest opportunity (between hours 9–6.30 Monday–Friday). Should you wish to book an initial session or consultation, subject to availability I will offer you a one-off session at an agreed time and date, with no obligation to continue sessions after if you did not wish to. Initial sessions are charged a fee. During consultation, we'll explore the possibility of working together, talk through what brings you to therapy and discuss together whether continued sessions feels the right choice for you. From there, we'll agree a time slot, pattern of working and fee, and you will receive an agreement document outlining expectations to read and confirm before sessions begin.
