About me

Hi, I am Kate, my background is in person centred counselling however I work integratively, using whatever strategies and approaches feel most comfortable to support growth and change. This may include CBT, Solution Focused approaches, EFT (Tapping), Mindfulness, relaxation techniques and psycho-education (providing learning and information about the mind and body's involvement in mental health and well-being)

I work with you as a whole person and believe in the body-mind connection, what we are feeling influences the way we think and vice versa.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced person centred counsellor and menopause wellness practitioner.

I also have 23 years experience of supporting vulnerable young people and their families. This alongside managing a team within a large organisation provides me with a wealth of skills and experience that support my practice.

I have experience of working within agency settings and the voluntary sector, Cruse Bereavement care, Service 6 supporting adolescents and Relate, as well as my own private practice.

As a registered member of the BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also attend regular supervision sessions to support the delivery of my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer face to face, online and telephone counselling.

Online sessions are via Zoom.

Face to face sessions are from my private practice in Quinton.

I offer walk-and-talk therapy. This can take place from my practice where we have access to countryside and forestry or in a convenient green space near you.

I offer a 30 minute complimentary online or phone consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling, how I work and what you would like to achieve. It is an opportunity to see whether we would be able to work together and to answer any questions that you may have. There is no obligation to return.

If we both decide to work together then we would agree on a therapeutic contract. Subsequent sessions are usually 50 minutes weekly however we can discuss the length and frequency.
