About me

Helping people find meaning, connection, direction and peace of mind

I am an experienced Therapeutic Counsellor offering a friendly, confidential, non-judgemental space to those wishing to explore and understand their life difficulties. These difficulties can include anything from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, helplessness, and a sense of being overwhelmed, to trauma, abuse, addiction, and loss. No issue is too small or unworthy.

We can all experience times in our lives where the strength of our emotions and life’s difficulties can be overwhelming. But however well intended your friends and family, it can be difficult to talk about difficult feelings with people that you know and love. Counselling is a really useful way to help us make sense of these emotions and issues, so bringing us fresh understanding and peace. From my own personal experience, I understand just how important it is to be heard and understood. I provide an opportunity for you to talk about what's troubling you without judgment and with empathy. Just saying out loud what's going on can be a relief. By doing so it can help you to work out what's really bothering you and together we can explore ways to do something about it.

I am guided by your preferences, needs and goals. Together we can explore and make sense of who you are and your relationship with the world. Painful and difficult life events can block a person’s self-belief and worth, obscuring their ability to find solutions and healthy psychological growth and emotional freedom. By knowing and understanding yourself better, you can unlock your potential and break unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviour.

Some of the other benefits my clients say they experience include greater confidence, being at ease with themselves, better relationships, and feeling stronger and happier.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I am based in the Brighton & Hove area, but of course can work with anyone in the country if they would like sessions online or over the phone.

If our sessions are at my home, access is relatively easy via a ground floor entrance.

I also do 'walk & talk' therapy. For some people walking and talking in a natural environment can feel less challenging and less formal and perhaps less awkward than sitting in a therapy room.  You don’t need to be super-fit - you decide the pace and direction, and you may prefer to stop at times or choose a place for us to sit or stand. I can be flexible to suit your needs and the conditions of the moment, both inner (feelings, energy levels) and outer (weather, terrain).

Being outdoors helps to release tensions, process emotions, and stimulate the mind. Nature freely offers its healing potential - fresh air, natural light, exercise.
