About me
How I can help you.
Warm, empathic, experienced and good-humoured, I am a BACP-registered integrative counsellor meaning my approach draws from different therapeutic models (primarily person-centred) to best fit you and your needs. Together we will explore concerns, identify and gently challenge patterns, limiting beliefs and ingrained narratives to facilitate meaningful change at your own pace.
I firmly believe that our past affects our present and I will help you to join the dots to make sense of your issues and your self.
I most commonly help with relationship and family issues, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, life transitions, trauma, addiction, identity and bereavement.
I have particular experience with creatives, the music industry, performing arts, addiction and boarding school related issues.
I support people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and neurodivergent conditions (particularly ADHD and autistic spectrum), working inclusively with compassion and respect.
Where & How?
I work 1:1 with adults and young people (16+), primarily face-to-face, from secure, comfortable therapy rooms in various locations across Brighton & Hove, in Clapham, London or online (or hybrid if that’s what works for you).
I offer sessions on an open-ended basis or for a fixed term. (Sometimes we start with a fixed term and keep going)!
Please do contact me to arrange a 20-minute telephone or online appointment, free of charge. During this initial consultation, I can answer queries you may have, discuss any concerns, identify what you want from therapy, and explore how I can help you to achieve your desired outcome.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a qualified Integrative Counsellor in private practice, I draw primarily from my training in person-centred, attachment and transactional analysis therapeutic models
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their robust ethical and professional standards - a reassuring kitemark of good practice.
I am committed to ongoing professional development via engagement in supervision, workshops, conferences and staying up to date with the latest research and therapeutic initiatives. Additional training includes Boarding School Syndrome (working with trauma experienced by ex-boarders), Internal Family Systems (IFS), working with children and young people (CYP), working with trauma, and disordered eating.
A little bit about my career experience:
Following a Politics degree, I eventually found my way into the UK music industry where I worked in both the mainstream and independent sectors of labels, artist development, radio and TV for over twenty five years before taking the life-changing decision to retrain as a counsellor. During my training I worked in drug and alcohol services supporting clients with recovery from addiction. I also held placements counselling children and young people at an inner London academy, music and performing arts students at BIMM Brighton, as well as adults at a means-tested counselling service. Post qualification, before developing private practice, I was a counsellor for young people at a music and performing arts college and an assessor for a local charity providing adult low-cost counselling.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As a member of the Brighton and Hove Therapy hub, I can work across the various Rooms For Therapists locations in the city. This allows for greater flexibility, accessibility and convenience.
Similarly in London, membership of Rooms for Therapists means wider reach and options, although I mostly work in the Clapham area, currently on Thursdays only.
