About me

I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to express yourself, this is incredibly beneficial for your emotional well-being and personal growth. It allows you to freely explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of criticism or rejection, which is transformative and healing.

Empathy, understanding, and validation are crucial components of my work. Feeling heard and supported creates a sense of trust and comfort, enabling you to open up and share your concerns more honestly. This leads to increased self-awareness and a deeper understanding of your own emotions and experiences.

This supportive environment fosters a positive and constructive therapeutic relationship, empowering you to process your emotions, confront challenges, and make healthier choices. Ultimately, this can lead to personal growth, improved emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

My clients come from varied backgrounds, however they are all looking for peace, acceptance and a qualified trusted person to be with while they try to make sense of their world. I offer a space for you to do that, a space that will not judge you, that will look at the world through your eyes and do my best to understand what that is like for you.

The majority of my clients are new to counselling, ensuring you feel safe and secure is vital. I do this by treating you respectfully and carefully, asking you about yourself and supporting you in looking at your life and past from different perspectives. Often it is the first time my clients will talk about or share their true feelings with someone else. This, in itself, can be transformative and I feel honoured to be part of your journey toward change.

You are unique so our work will reflect that, but I hope this gives you a little glimpse into what we could achieve - contact me for a free 15 -30 minute telephone consultation and we can start making those changes.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully insured qualified counsellor experienced in working with a range of clients, which includes feelings of low self worth, anxiety and depression, burn out and exploring the challenges of neurodiversity.

I work within an integrative humanistic framework. This means that I tailor the work to your needs.

I draw on a range of different approaches and philosophies, however I think Eastern and Western philosophies both have a part to play in healing our mind, body and soul.

I also support University students as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor.

My previous experience has included volunteering on a Women's helpline and supporting women who were navigating the Criminal Justice system.

I worked for over a decade alongside the charity sector so have a good understanding of the difficulties faced by people accessing support from homeless charities, social injustice organisations, and a wide range of medical charities, giving me valuable insight and knowledge.

I find that transitions are a theme in my work whether it be navigating university challenges, difficult relationships or feeling like you have hit rock bottom.

My own experiences as an intercountry interracial adoptee and many years of working alongside the charity sector have enabled me to understand that challenges also come from outside forces, oppression, injustice and marginalisation, whether this be racism, homophobia, transphobia. ableism or abuse.

I have taken time to explore my own identity and I have a wealth of experiences from my life that contribute to having deep empathy for others.
