About me

I am a fully qualified experienced counsellor/psychotherapist and offer an integrative approach to therapy/counselling. I am a warm friendly practitioner who has the ability to make you feel at ease in a safe comfortable space.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to look within themselves and develop new perspectives in their lives. As a practitioner this is at the forefront of my mind. In my practice I work from  a person-centred approach, drawing on theories such as transactional analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other approaches to suit your individual’s needs.

Talking   therapies can help people come to terms with childhood traumas, difficulties in coping with life and in acquiring new perspectives of life situations. This process can equip you with better life strategies and look ahead with more clarity and a sense of direction.  We would initially look at what you want to experience / gain from the counselling process and discuss the most appropriate way forward.

I work from a dedicated Therapy room in the heart of Heaton moor There is free parking , close to bus routes and Heaton chapel train station .

I am very passionate about empowering and motivating people and to help them regain a healthier perspective on life. I am committed to a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

My aim is to build a trusting relationship with clients and support them in becoming more self aware and reach personal goals. Taking on this journey, for whatever reason, can be challenging and daunting and I provide a professional, confidential compassionate and non judgemental experience for each individual.

My particular areas of experience and expertise:
childhood / attachment issues, child and adult abuse, family issues, domestic abuse, relationships, anxiety, anger issues, stress at work, exam stress, sexual issues and female issues, such as pregnancy , menopause and parenting issues .

I will always strive to check with you that the work we do together does have a positive effect on your life.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is best seen as a collaborative process in which we work together to identify how best to achieve a sense of personal development and cope with life's challenges. I am very experienced in helping people deal with conflict and making decisions that will have a positive impact in their lives.

"Working with Jackie on my emotional issues has been an incredibly positive experience and has resulted in me feeling in control of who I am,and what I want -and has created in me a sense of self worth. I now FEEL that I deserve a great life with all it has to offer and have lost the fear that was holding me back.

Jackie is warm, friendly and above all real. I felt so comfortable discussing my deepest feelings which has allowed me to accept and express myself clearer than ever. I actually feel like an adult now, rather than a scared youngster (despite nearly hitting my forties)". 'Thank you Jackie' Anon 2017

"Jackie has helped me to develop my confidence and face my fears and be ok with uncomfortable feelings instead of avoiding them. I have been communicating better with people at work and family, working on myself and reflecting on the changes with Jackie has truly changed my life. "I am so grateful for the awareness that I know have".
Anon 2017

"Jackie is a warm, professional friendly person that made me feel at ease immediately, I was nervous about revealing my issues but was able to connect quickly and over the last few months began to understand my behaviours and "realise my vulnerabilitys which is so empowering".

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
