I am an experienced, friendly and empathic psychodynamic counsellor based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. I work with young adults through to older individuals on a one-to-one basis.
There are times in all our lives when we may experience emotional turbulence, distress, anxiety and feel overwhelmed, unsure how to proceed and who to confide in. I offer my clients a confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space to explore their emotional difficulties according to their individual needs and at their own pace. Talking to a trusted, qualified counsellor, who knows you in no other capacity, can help you explore and reflect on your feelings in safety, gain insight and move forward.
Our relationship is at the heart of this process, and as a psychodynamic counsellor, I will work alongside you to help you make sense of your emotional difficulties in the present, by looking at links to your past relationships and experiences.
As a BACP registered counsellor, I work within the BACP’s Code of Ethics. My work is supervised in accordance with professional requirements and I have full indemnity insurance. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) in order to uphold data protection.
If you think I might be able to help please contact me and we can arrange a brief telephone call or an initial appointment. During the first session, you will have an opportunity to decide whether I am someone you might like to work with and I will learn a little about you and why you are thinking about counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 6 years’ experience of delivering both short-term and long-term therapy to clients with a wide range of different issues and difficulties. I worked for several years at a bereavement charity, and as well as my private practice, I currently work with clients from Victims of Crime, the NHS, and The Counselling Foundation.
Qualifications: BA Hons, Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
