About me
Hi, I’m Helen. I offer a space for thoughtful, capable people who are used to holding it all together on the outside, but inside feel exhausted, overwhelmed or disconnected.
Maybe your mind never seems to switch off. You overthink, worry about what other people think, put everyone else first, or find it difficult to slow down and give yourself the same care you give to others. You may look like you’re coping, but inside things feel very different.
Sometimes, the way we cope as adults can have roots in what we experienced growing up. If you had a parent who was affected by addiction, often absent, or emotionally unavailable, you may have learned early on to be very aware of other people’s moods, keep the peace, put your own needs to one side, or take responsibility for things that weren’t yours to carry.
You may have found that these ways of coping stay with you, even when life is different now. They can affect how you see yourself, how you relate to other people and how comfortable you feel asking for what you need. You may understand this logically, but still find yourself falling into the same patterns.
Therapy can give you the space to slow things down and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we can explore where some of these patterns may have come from, how they are affecting you now, and what you might need.
I offer an open, inclusive space where you don’t need to fit into a box, have everything figured out or even know exactly what’s wrong. There’s no pressure to have the right words or know where to start. We can take things at your pace, with warmth, honesty and without judgement.
My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, feel more settled within yourself and find a way forward that feels right for you.
If you’re ready to think more clearly and feel more like yourself again, you’re welcome to get in touch.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have significant experience in working with grief. The loss of a loved one has a dramatic effect of those left behind. Sometimes it doesn’t feel possible to know how to move forwards and carry on living life. Counselling offers a valuable spaced to fully explore our feelings and work out a way to carry on.
I have lived experience and work with clients who experience sudden loss or who are impacted by suicide.
