About me

Hello,

I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor.

It's likely that you have arrived here because you are seeking help or support dealing with some of life’s difficulties. I appreciate that deciding to seek help and then contacting a therapist can feel like a big and daunting step. Whether that is to deal with anxiety, depression, confusion or unhappiness. Or perhaps it might be a feeling that your life has little meaning, you're lonely, or you lack a sense of direction. Or was there something else?

My therapeutic approach and how we might work together.

I develop a working relationship with my clients which is exploratory and supportive. Working together we employ different approaches depending on your needs. This could include;

  • person centred – developing a supportive relationship to explore your story and feelings and enable you to build a strong sense of self. Building your self confidence and esteem
  • psychodynamic – looking at your history and how that is impacting you in the present
  • cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) – looking at the causes and then being very solution focussed
  • somatic - physical grounding and breathing techniques

I tailor the therapy to fit you the client.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began working as a body work professional thirty three years ago. I counselled my first talking therapy clients twenty four years ago. After that I took a break from talking therapy and focussed more on the body work. In the last four years I have been offering an integration of these areas.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their comprehensive code of ethics.

I hold a CPCAB level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also have a British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma in Yoga, and I am Cerificated by The Minded Institute in integrating Yoga Therapy into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
