About me

I am a CBT, Trauma-Focused therapist, and I have experience of working with clients who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, life changes, loss, self-confidence issues.  My goal is to help you find your own solutions – whether that is making effective changes in your life or change the way you view yourself and others and experience relationships. Therapy is a safe and confidential space for you to talk about any issues or concerns you might have.

The first session is an assessment one in which we can talk about the issues that brings you to therapy, what are your expectations and goals from therapy and how we can work together. In the sessions afterwards we can further explore any issues affecting your life and help you find a way to move forward. In my practice, I follow an integrative approach which means I use different approaches depending on individual needs, including a person-centred approach, cognitive behavioural therapy, self-compassionate approach and systemic therapy.

The issues discussed in the sessions are not predetermined, they emerge depending on your difficulties at the moment and what is important for you. The goal is for you to find effective ways of coping with your difficulties in the here and now by becoming more aware of repetitive patterns of interpretation and behaviour, which can impact the view that you hold for yourself and others, the quality you experience in your interpersonal relationships (friendly, romantic, professional) and the feeling of satisfaction for your everyday life. Sessions at times might focus on helping you to discover how difficulties and experiences from the past still affect the here and now and to learn new methods and skills in order to deal with these difficulties.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology, Kapodistrian University of Athens
  • BSc Psychology, Edinburgh Napier University
  • MSc Children and Young People Mental Health and Psychological Practice, University of Edinburgh
  • COSCA Validated Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork, A Cognitive Behavioural Approach
  • COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)

During the early years of my career, I supported children and young people’s personal development and wellbeing in a variety of settings by combining my education and my love for the theatre and the creative arts, working as a theatrical games group facilitator in nurseries, summer camps and a charity for Roma children. I have also gained an invaluable experience working as a trainee counsellor in schools providing interventions against bullying and as a therapeutic support worker for teenagers addicted to drugs in a Centre of Therapy for Addicted People.

As a person I am always looking to develop both professionally and personally which is the reason I applied to the Centre of Therapy and counselling Studies and completed a two-year professional diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. During my time on this course, I gained a rich knowledge of tools and developed skills on how to support other people in their exploration of themselves and journey to make changes in their lives. This diploma was invaluable in helping me gain a better understanding of my own thought and emotional patterns which has allowed me to grow as a Psychotherapist.

During my diploma and until I entered to private practice, I provided one to one therapy sessions to individuals experiencing anxiety and low mood and I developed and co-facilitated specialised workshops to psycho-educate and empower individuals on the topics of depression and challenging negative thinking at the Centre of Therapy, The Health Agency and the Scottish Association for Mental Health.

I started my private practice in 2019 and since then I provide therapy sessions for people experiencing a variety of difficulties including, anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety and agoraphobia, low mood, depression, trauma, low self-esteem and negative thinking, relationship issues and anger management.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

If this is your first time visiting a psychotherapist, the idea may be scary at first. You might not be sure what to expect or what questions will be asked. With the people I talk to, this is a common experience.  It is crucial to find a psychotherapist who will be a good fit for you. That's why our first session will be in a reduced fee, with the aim to explore if you feel comfortable working together,  as well as if I feel I can support you in achieving  your goals.

I offer sessions both online and face to face from my office in the centre of Edinburgh, in Forth Street.

I am registered and I adhere to ethical frameworks set out by BACP. I attend regular supervision and Continued Professional Development courses to inform my practice.
