About me

My name is Emily Pitman and I am a fully qualified Clinical Supervisor, Psychotherapist & Integrative Counsellor working in private practice in Wellington, Somerset.

Being an Integrative Therapist enables me to 'tailor' the sessions to support your wants, expectations and needs. I specialise in Relationship Issues, Anxiety and Depression. The emotions that you maybe experiencing at this time can leave you feeling lost, confused and helpless within your own being. The service I provide is for individuals who are seeking a kind, confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship. Together we can build and establish your foundations and begin to understand and accept those events that have brought you to this page.

Sessions last for 50 minutes with the option of being weekly or fortnightly. I provide an environment whereby clients feel confident, comfortable and trusting to talk openly and share and explore issues that may be troubling them. This presents clients with the invaluable tools to cope, develop skills, explore self development and create authenticity throughout the counselling process.

Depending on your presenting issues I am able to use a wide variety of techniques, for example, but not limited to: Person- Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) Solution-Focused Therapy, Phsycodynamic Therapy, Existential Therapy, Couples Counselling, Sensate Focus Therapy (Intimacy related issues), Creative Therapy & Neuro-Lingustic Programming (NLP).

The first step is a free telephone assessment and consultation, so that I am able to understand your values, core beliefs, background information (the things that make you tick).

I feel that finding the right counsellor to suit your personality and characteristics is fundamental to help create the most impactful therapeutic environment. If I am not suitable, then I am able to refer and signpost to another suitable specialised practitioner.

My motto is; "My aim is to help "YOU" to become the best version of yourself"

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
