About me

My style is warm, accepting, and empathetic, whilst being compassionately curious and honest. I take a holistic approach to therapy, honouring the unique way you experience the world, the connection between mind and body, and diversity and individual context.

Our initial sessions will be focused on developing a shared understanding of your difficulties, needs, and strengths, going at a pace that feels comfortable for you. As our sessions progress, our work might look like compassionate listening alongside reflection and exploration, whilst at other times it may look like working with coping strategies and tools.

My Psychotherapy Training

My doctoral training in Counselling Psychology means I use multiple therapy models that are grounded in the research evidence-base, enabling me to tailor my approach to your needs. I draw from person-centred therapy, psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), amongst other models.

I am able to integrate body-based approaches into our work, if you express an interest, such as exploring experiences using body awareness and movement. This reflects my longstanding interest into the potential of connecting to our body’s inner wisdom. I have completed my doctoral thesis on this subject, and I keep personal practices in dance and movement for facilitating my own reflection and expression, as well as for general health and wellbeing.

My Specialisms

I have 10 years of experience working therapeutically across NHS, charity, and private healthcare settings. I work with a diverse range of difficulties. These include anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, interpersonal issues, family difficulties, loss and adjustment, amongst many more. I also work with the impact of physical health conditions, body dysmorphia/appearance anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Please see below for other concerns that I work with.

Currently, I am able to offer online sessions only.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
