About me
You carry on like you’re fine. But underneath? It’s a lot. I support people who think deeply, feel everything, and somehow hold it all together.
Hi, I’m Elizabeth Paterson – an experienced, accredited therapist, here to offer you a warm and supportive space to talk things through.
Therapy with me is a space to breathe, reflect, and gently untangle what’s going on — at your pace. It’s also a space where you’re genuinely welcome — whatever your background, identity, or experience. I offer an inclusive, affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent folks, and anyone who’s ever felt a bit ‘outside the norm’.
Sometimes life feels heavy, confusing, or just too much. Maybe you’re trying to keep it all going, but inside you’re feeling anxious, low, or not quite yourself. Together, we can explore what’s happening beneath the surface — whether that’s from things going on around you, relationships, hopes and dreams, past experiences, or simply needing space to breathe and be heard.
Whatever brings you here, therapy with me is a place where all of you is welcome.
Therapy can become a really positive part of your life — a space that feels steady, encouraging, and genuinely helpful. Over time, things may start to feel a bit lighter or clearer. You might begin to feel more like yourself again, more confident in your choices, or simply more able to meet whatever life brings. Things don’t have to stay stuck — therapy can help things shift, gently and meaningfully.
Sessions are flexible
We can meet weekly, fortnightly, or find a rhythm that suits you. I also offer a range of session lengths to fit your needs — from shorter 30-minute check-ins (ideal for busy weeks or lighter topics), to extended 90-minute sessions if there's something bigger to unpack, or if you’re neurodivergent and benefit from more time. You can mix and match as needed.
Getting started
I offer a free 15-minute chat to see if we’re a good fit. From there, we’ll set up your first session in a way that works for you.
If you have any questions or there’s anything else you’d like to know, feel free to send me a message — I’d be really happy to hear from you.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
