About me
Hello and a super warm welcome to my listing. I’m Elizabeth Paterson, an experienced accredited therapist, and I’m here to help you.
I’m a humanistic relational counsellor and I’ll do my absolute best to support you in a way that helps you feel comfortable and empowered.
My sessions are focused on what you'd like, whether it’s meeting me weekly, fortnightly, or flexibly. You set the pace.
My goal during every one of our therapy sessions, is to give you the space and support to be able to think your way through what's on your mind. We will build on your understanding, self-awareness and general wellbeing to empower you to find the solutions that work best for you.
So what’s going on with you?
I know just how difficult it can be to adapt to all kinds of new experiences. Like when relationships with our friends, family or partners change, or we reach life milestones and we wonder what this means. Sometimes changes in our careers or education affect us in ways we weren’t expecting. Of course, losing people we love, our pets or just the way things used to be, can feel so completely devastating.
Or maybe it is change that you are looking for. Do you feel stuck or that things are becoming boring, hard to maintain or generally unfulfilling? It can be difficult working out what changes we need and how to go about it alone.
Nurturing Sessions
Throughout our counselling sessions, I will listen with great care and warmth. I have many years of experience and update my training often. Working with me can be really helpful in building resilience, self-confidence and compassion which can have a lasting and positive impact on your wellbeing.
Bring your whole self
Your individuality is openly celebrated and welcomed here. Just be you. If you find it helpful, we can explore how your experiences intersect with who you are. We can unpick your experiences of gender, relationships, social background, age, religion, ethnicity, ability, neurodiversity, health, heritage, education, and political beliefs.
Online
Providing Online Therapy is what I love. I’ve done extensive training to make sure I provide you with counselling that gives you all the benefits of traditional therapy but with the addition of convenience to your lifestyle.
Check out the different types and my tips for online therapy on my website ElizabethPaterson.co.uk, plus loads of info on how I keep you safe and secure.
Outdoor
Outdoor therapy is a highly intuitive and effective way to use the environment to gain new perspectives. It can be really useful for processing difficult emotions.
We can walk and talk, sit on a bench, or be creative in the outside space.
I offer this as a bespoke service, with your comfort in mind, and may cost more than online sessions.
Workplaces
I work with schools and businesses supporting their staff's wellbeing
Let me know your requirements and let's make your workplace a happier place.
Starting therapy
You can email, call, text me or fill in the contact form here to start therapy with me.
Feel free to ask me any questions you have. We can arrange a free 15 minute chat to see if we are a good fit too.
From there, I email out some paperwork that explains some more about how we can work together and there is a form for you to fill in.
Then we find a time that suits you for the therapy to start.
First sessions often involve getting to know each other a little more, and about why you are here and what you would like. We work on setting a pace that feels right for you, with no assumptions. This is the unique space, just for you to be you. I will hold you safely.
Please contact me using the form below or visit my website www.ElizabethPaterson.Co.Uk for more information.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
