About me

There are many reasons for seeking therapy and it is a big step to ask for help.

Sometimes it is about coming to terms with a life event such as a relationship breakdown or a bereavement; sometimes it is the strong feelings aroused by a traumatic experience; sometimes it is the right time to try and understand long standing feelings of anxiety, depression or plain unhappiness or perhaps there is a general sense that things are not right and that life could be better and richer.

Difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviour which cause problems in everyday life can lead to suffering and distress. The roots of this suffering are often in the past because we tend to repeat patterns we learned in our earliest relationships even when they are no longer appropriate. This can affect the nature and quality of our relationships, how we function at work and how we cope with our daily lives.

I believe that whatever the issue which leads someone to seek therapy, it is the relationship between client and therapist that is the most important factor in facilitating change. I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space in which that relationship can develop and in which we can explore and make sense of your feelings and begin to understand where difficulties originate. Over time, identifying and understanding the roots of this suffering can help to alleviate distress and to improve quality of life.

I offer a free no obligation phone call of about 10 minutes so that we can talk about your concerns and you can ask any questions. The next step is an initial consultation either in person or online to understand your history and your hopes for therapy. If we then feel we can work together we agree on a weekly appointment time and begin.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor registered with UKCP.

I trained at WPF Therapy and have worked with clients of all ages from a range of backgrounds and orientations who are struggling with a wide variety of emotional difficulties.

I offer both open ended and time limited psychotherapy in person and online.

My first career was in the law and I have degrees from the Universities of Oxford and Bristol.
