About me

Hello, and welcome to Optimum Counselling.

My name is Edward, it’s great that you’re thinking about taking the first step to well-being and personal growth.

Life is complex and filled with unique challenges for each of us. Acknowledging the distinct paths we all tread, my aim is to create an open and accepting space where clients can feel truly listened to and understood. Whether it’s tackling anxiety or depression, improving relationships, or seeking personal satisfaction, my role is to be there with you on this journey of change, to focus on providing support and understanding whilst adapting various counselling techniques to fit your personal needs and goals.

As an integrative counsellor means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to provide the most effective support tailored to everyone’s unique needs. At the heart of my practice is person-centred therapy, a fundamental approach that shapes how I connect with every client. This means I prioritise understanding you from your perspective, valuing your autonomy and tailoring our sessions to support your personal journey. In addition to person-centred therapy, I blend elements from other therapeutic models as needed. This integrative approach allows me to adapt to the diverse challenges and goals you bring into our sessions, ensuring that the support I offer is as unique as you are.

I believe in being genuine and committed in my practice, aiming to build a safe and trusting space where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings. This approach is designed to support your journey of self-discovery and healing, with a focus on personal growth and well-being.

Additionally, my counselling approach is not just about looking back but also building up your strength and setting goals for the future. This part of our work together is about enhancing your resilience and working towards achieving your aspirations, not just fixing past issues. By focusing on where you want to go, as well as where you’ve been, we can work towards not just overcoming challenges but thriving in the face of them. This balanced approach aims to equip you with the tools to handle what comes next, ensuring a future that’s not only healed but full of potential.

I follow the ethical guidelines set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means that all sessions are held to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

Your mental and emotional health is my highest priority. If you’re ready to start on the path toward healing and growth, I encourage you to reach out. I promise to support you at every step of the way.

🌱 My Approach: As a counsellor, creating a collaborative and non-judgmental enviroment where you can freely express yourself. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my therapeutic techniques to meet your unique circumstances, needs and goals. We'll explore your emotions, identify patterns, and develop practical strategies to help you navigate life's challenges.

💼 Range of Packages: I offer tailored packages to meet your unique needs, ranging from individual counselling sessions to integrated sessions combining personal training and life coaching. I also offer valuable check-in sessions to better stay on track with programs and goals set between the main sessions, ensuring continuous support and progress tracking.

💰 Costs and Pricing: Counselling services should be accessible to all. Fees vary based on service, session length, and location (phone/online or in person). Reduced fees are available for those experiencing financial difficulties, young adults/students, and individuals with disabilities. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
