About me

Hello and welcome

My name is Dawn and I'm an experienced Integrative Counsellor. I work with Children, Young People and Adults. I'm an Accredited member with the BACP and an Accredited Professional Registrant with the NCPS.

I'm a Neurodivergent Affirming Therapist emphasising on strengths rather than differences.

I offer a safe space for you to come and be as you are.

I understand it's not always easy to take the first step and reach out for help. My warm and caring approach will be the support that you need to help you on your journey and bring about the changes you want to see in your life.

How I can help you

Therapy can provide a space to help you to explore what has happened to you or what is happening to you. It can help you to try to make better sense of your thoughts, experiences and feelings.

I offer a warm therapeutic space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences in a safe, compassionate environment. A space to help you find a way back to yourself, supporting you to explore your feelings and difficulties. I will listen to you to understand who you are as a person and the things that you want from your life.

Together we can work on change in a supported environment, that will allow you to bring all versions of yourself without the fear of being judged.

I will help you to explore ways to move forward, making sense of your difficulties and who you are. I can help you to find practical steps to take control, build healthy coping mechanisms and stronger resilience to overcome any obstacles and challenges.

Trauma Informed Therapies

As a therapist I have a specialist interest in trauma recovery, where I practise using a Trauma Informed Approach. I integrate different trauma techniques, focusing on different paths for recovery working with both the body and mind. Please visit my website link at the top of the page for more information

My style

My style is warm, friendly and allows laughter and celebration. I have a relaxed approach, where I work in a very open and transparent way. Together we will celebrate your progress, no matter how big or small this may feel. I offer a service that fosters feelings of empowerment and hope.

My favourite thing about being a therapist is in helping people feel less anxious and rediscover that they’re likeable, capable, lovable and able to smile again because so often when clients first come in to therapy, those things often seem so very far away.

Next Step

Reaching out for help can feel scary and overwhelming. It is common to sometimes experience a feeling of anxiousness, nervousness or apprehension. Where I know how this may feel for you right now.

I warmly invite you to contact me to book a free initial telephone meeting, where you will be able to ask me any questions that you may have and talk about why you feel that you may benefit from counselling.

Having this space allows you to get a sense of how we might work together, your hopes and expectations of the therapy process. I can also answer any questions or concerns you may have.

If you feel comfortable with me and feel I am the right counsellor for you, we can book a counselling session together

  • Please check your JUNK email folders to avoid missing my response.

There is always hope, no matter how small this feels. I invite you to get in touch with me, where together we can find your new beginning, your place of calm, and where you belong in life.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
