About me
I am a Person-Centered counsellor (Person-center means, client led) who uses CBT and Solution Focused techniques where suitable. My background includes yoga, reiki, meditation, aromatherapy and mindfulness. This means I can offer an holistic approach to the therapeutic work. The relationship between myself and the client (you) is at the heart of ALL therapy. Counselling is about change, and change can be very difficult and scary to do. In fact, sometimes we actually don't know how to do it. With support from myself, we will explore your anxiety, concerns, behavior, beliefs and feelings.
I do this by creating a relaxed, non-judgmental environment; communicating congruence (genuineness), empathy, and unconditional positive regard towards my clients. The non-directive approach enables the clients to find their own solutions to their problems and concerns.
Confidentiality and trust is at the foundation of the counselling relationship. Gaining your trust facilitates the therapeutic relationship.
I am especially interested in working with individuals and couples who suffer with generalised anxiety disorder, anxiety, depression, Bipolar and relationship issues.
I offer workplace counselling to companies throughout Shropshire and surrounding counties.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working towards my accreditation. I adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am fully insured and DBS cleared to work with young people and vulnerable adults.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
Clients often arrive and say "I feel silly really, I don't know why I am here". Because they feel that their problem is not BIG enough to bring it to counselling. To which I reply, "if it's bothering you it's big enough.
We are all unique individuals and no two problems are ever the same. There are times when we need to talk through our concerns, with someone that has no connection or any invested interested. Those problems vary from relationships, loss (of anything) and bullying. Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your own issue and concern in a non-judgmental environment. It is my job to help you work out what's right for you.
Anxiety and depression is the main mental health issue that is talked about in my counselling setting. These problems can be crippling to someone and seeking help in the form of talking therapy. Is proven to help manage the condition.
