I am a ‘person-centered’ counsellor who uses CBT tools, I run a private practice from my base in Trench, Telford Shropshire. I believe counselling is about empowering the client to look and change their lives.
Being a ‘person centered’ counsellor means I provide clients with an opportunity to develop a ‘sense of self’; supporting them to recognise their own attitudes, feelings and behaviour, helping them to find their true positive ‘self’ and reach their full potential.
I do this by creating a relaxed, non-judgmental environment; communicating congruence (genuineness), empathy, and unconditional positive regard towards my clients. The non-directive approach enables the clients to find their own solutions to their problems and concerns.
Confidentiality, the counselling relationship is built on trust. Confidentiality is the foundation of gaining your trust and facilitating the therapeutic relationship.
I am especially interested in working with people who suffer with anxiety, depression and relationship issue.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and working towards my accreditation. As a member of the BACP I adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am fully insured and CRB cleared to work with young people and vulnerable adults.

Clients often arrive and say "I feel silly really, I don't know why I am here". Because they feel that their problem is not BIG enough to bring it to counselling. To which I reply, "if it's bothering you it's big enough.
We are all unique individuals and no two problems are ever the same. There are times when we need to talk through our concerns, with someone that has no connection or any invested interested. Those problems vary from relationships, loss (of anything) and bullying. Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore your own issue and concern in a non-judgmental environment. It is my job to help you work out what's right for you.
Anxiety and depression is the main mental health issue that is talked about in my counselling setting. These problems can be crippling to someone and seeking help in the form of talking therapy. Is proven to help manage the condition.
