About me

I am a Level 7 qualified counsellor/psychotherapist with availability for new clients. I can help you explore difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma/abuse, relationships and addiction. I have experience with working both short and long term.

Together we will look at what you're experiencing and what could empower you to more constructively deal with a challenging situation or personal difficulty that is impacting your wellbeing and outlook. Facing and talking through difficulties in the presence of an understanding, objective witness, is proven to help alleviate symptoms of mental ill health in many cases. By engaging with the therapeutic process, you may find new possibilities and insights open up to you.

More about how I work

My style is based on an integrative and relational approach to counselling and psychotherapy, trauma-informed, within awareness of difference and multiculturalism. I aim to work with the way each individual client prefers to explore their feelings, thinking and behaviours and will offer ways of working that will resonate for each individual depending on their needs and personality.

I offer a possibility of a safe space, with a warm and welcoming presence, where clients can be their true selves and work through anything that has impacted their wellbeing.

Training, qualifications & experience

MA, PGDip, MBACP

I am a level 7 trained professional, working with adults of all ages, from young people to OAPs. In addition to private practice, I have been a counsellor for university students and the NHS primary care service. I have worked with a range of issues including people experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety, stress, PTSD and CPTSD, complex bereavement, various forms of addiction, eating disorders and relationship challenges. While I work with a range of issues and diverse client base, I have a particular interest in trauma/inter-generational trauma and recovery.

In addition to my professional experience, academic qualifications and training, a significant part of my background has been helping and supporting individuals as a voluntary mentor and a group facilitator for many years.

My background is in the arts, higher education and student support. I have been a practitioner of mindfulness and meditation for many years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
