About me

You are very welcome to ring me on  07903329952 or email.
I offer Time Limited Counselling, Open Ended Psychotherapy and Individual Counselling in person and online and an  Online Open ended Psychotherapy Group .

It can be confusing to know what kind of help would best meet your needs. For this reason I offer an initial consultation to explore with you what you may be looking for, and what may be the best way forward.

Life is complex. I provide a safe space in which personal concerns, conflicts and problems can be explored in trust and confidence-a setting in which new solutions to old problems may be found. This can occur in Individual Time Limited Focussed Therapy or over a longer period. I also conduct a confidential Psychotherapy Group online, on Wednesday evenings, from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. This is another arena in which you have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of relationships.

My trainings mean I offer a broad perspective to working with individuals. Both individual and group psychotherapy are suitable for most emotional and psychological difficulties, whether ongoing or acute. Group psychotherapy is particularly helpful if you want to understand and improve the way you relate to others, whether socially, at work or within your family. These issues can of course be worked with individually and so the context of therapy and counselling is a matter of personal choice and differing circumstances. Time limited Counselling/Therapy, focusses on a particular problem you may have, or stage in life.

I have 40 years experience of working as a therapist, with a broad range of human distress and with many cultures, with individuals and groups in the voluntary, statutory and private sector. I was employed for 17 years as a Consultant Adult Psychotherapist in the NHS part time, where I assessed, provided therapy, supervised and taught. I now work full time in private practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained in Family Therapy, Group Analytic Psychotherapy, Individual Therapy and Time Limited Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT skills and EMDR.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma In Group Analytic Psychotherapy and a certificates/diplomas in Time Limited Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, CBT skills and EMDR.

I have experience of working with people with a wide range of difficulties and from different cultural backgrounds, including working with families, young men and women and adults, and senior citizens.

I have also been involved as a Trainer and Supervisor on Intercultural Therapy and Group Psychotherapy Training Courses over a number of years.

I believe from experience, that the art of a good enough therapy is collaborative, enlightening conversations whether in a group or individually, where matters of personal difficulty can be talked about in the spirit of curiosity, respect and kindness and in a climate of confidentiality.

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
