I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, with 25 years of experience, helping clients with affordable CBT for a wide range of difficulties. C.B.T. aims to make an impact in a short or medium term. I offer a no fee first meeting. My website contains the details.
I work with C.B.T. and EMDR which are both supported by N.I.C.E.( NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR CLINICAL EXCELLENCE ). My general background includes relationship therapy as well.
I meet clients in 2 places : London, SE1 , Waterloo. About 6 minutes walk from the main station. Also Cambridgeshire / Northants : Wansford PE8 .
Do email me with any questions you may have.
My route into counselling followed a time when I used therapy as a client, and I found it really helped. Then for some months and then years I began training and took placements in charity sector counselling. Finally I settled down to full time work as a therapist. I was looking for a balance between practical approaches ( C.B.T.) and a more personal approach, and my major trainings / diplomas, reflect that, I believe.
Training, qualifications & experience
A full c.v. is on my website. My main qualifications are that I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I have diplomas in counselling and stress management.
I am now a Consultant in E.M.D.R. I have found that CBT & EMDR are a very workable combination, when used in a structured and clear way. Once explained many clients completely get the idea of the approach, which helps them with progress to improvements.
Many clients benefit from a brief training in Mindfulness as a part of sessions. It can bring important benefits in steadiness as difficult times. Some clients just have half sessions for Mindfulness, or conduct their own sessions at home with MP3's that I can provide. This can save sessions and becomes an economical therapy for those motivated to try this. I have trainings in Mindfulness and I have conducted my own Mindfulness practice, so that brief Mindfulness is very much a part of life.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

A portion of my work over the years has been with workplace issues and helping clients gaining a balance between work and life situations. Also dealing with formal issues at work, and getting back to work after accidents and time off.
Another theme in my work has been dealing with difficult events such as traumatic accidents and abuse, and I work for a number of insurance companies and constabularies.
