B.A.C.P. Senior Accredited, EMDR Accred, Retired Consultant

About me

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 30 years’ experience, offering affordable CBT and EMDR for a wide range of difficulties. I provide a free initial meeting, available both face to face or online. For details look at: Website / CV

Face‑to‑face sessions are in Wansford (PE8), convenient for Peterborough, Stamford, Oundle, Corby, Uppingham and Huntingdon.

Online sessions: for clients  UK wide, and Internationally. This is a Brief Therapy / Reporting  package. Please scroll to Online Brief Therapy.

CBT is designed to be a practical, structured and shorter‑term approach, and many people find this helpful. CBT and EMDR, both have been recommended by N.I.C.E.(The : National Institute for Health and Care Excellence).

My background is as a CBT Therapist, and then Consultant for the EMDR Association  ( Retired  2025 ).

I have helped clients with:

Anxiety,
Depression,
Work‑related issues,
Trauma and / life difficulties
O.C.D.
A.D.H.D.
Addictions
and family or relationship concerns.

My personal route into therapy began in 1990 as a client. Then as a Charity Sector Volunteer. Later, I began Training, having found therapy genuinely helpful. It did take longer than I had hoped. So I have always aimed to provide sessions that are focused, efficient, and working together. My training and qualifications reflect that balance, I hope .

If you have any questions - practical or otherwise - feel free to email.

Online, Brief Therapy and Report to Client.  This I hope is an affordable package that points the way ahead when there can be so many possibilities.

*Firstly , I provide a free session on the telephone or Whatsapp, based on a questionnaire I send out.

Secondly, Then , I send you a written summary with some practical pointers about how to progress.

Thirdly, If you wish,  I provide 2 further sessions for the basic fee , to talk through the above This can help be clearer about the path ahead, without committing too soon to any one path.

Training, qualifications & experience

A full CV is on my website. My main qualifications are that I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, and I have diplomas in counselling and stress management.

I am a Therapist and a Consultant / Supervisor in E.M.D.R. I have found that CBT & EMDR are a very workable combination when used in a structured and clear way. Once explained, many clients completely get the idea of the approach, which helps them with progress to improvements. In my opinion, it can save sessions and become an economical way to help with all sort of difficulties.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
