About me

Chair of BACP Coaching Division, MA (Psych), BACP (Reg), PG Cert Coaching (Senior Practitioner, Accredited)

An experienced Psychotherapist (MA) and Executive Coach (Senior Practitioner), with a warm, energetic and compassionate way of being.  I work creatively and collaboratively with clients within a relationship built on trust, warmth, and respect, to carefully explore how your feelings, emotions and behaviour impact your ability to make decisions and create the change you would like to achieve.

My ‘3 Cs’ strategy works holistically to support people to create Clarity, Confidence and Change.  Trained to Master's level (L7) in both therapy and coaching, dependent on the unique needs and goals of each person, I combine the healing empowerment of psychotherapy with the solutions-focused energy of coaching. My approach recognises that sometime the past shows up in the present, and is underpinned by the psychological principles of enhancing self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-compassion, enabling authentic and sustainable change to be achieved.

Experienced in working across the whole spectrum of mental health and wellbeing, my clients range from troubled teens, new parents, and burnt out professionals, through to those struggling with the impact of severe physical and mental illness.  My aim is always to empower people to believe change is possible, by drawing on my wide skillset to help you understand your cognitive and emotional responses in the here-and-now, clarify your strengths, and identify any previously unconscious unhelpful narratives and self-limiting beliefs.

The process is gentle, curious, creative, and interactive, and while we'll delve deeply into the difficult challenges you're facing, there may be therapeutic moments of levity and humour too. You'll feel empowered to develop healthy and helpful techniques and strategies to regulate emotional responses, supporting the achievement of goals, and create sustainable, long-term, change.

How can your approach can help me?

My integrative psychotherapy training integrates humanistic, psychodynamic, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) ways of working to help me most effectively understand and empathise with your unique background and life experiences. I'm experienced in drawing on a range of techniques to help people overcome difficulties including anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, perfectionism, and addictive behaviours, as well as common workplace and relationship challenges. My specialised skillset enables me to develop a solution-focussed therapeutic-coaching plan for each client that is specifically tailored to your individual objectives and optimal timeline.

Much of the time we'll just talk and explore. Many clients enjoy creating a record of our session to reflect on later, in the form of notes, a diagram, or plan of action. Sessions usually take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly, dependent on your needs and goals, and we may agree some work to be undertaken between sessions, such as practising a new skill (e.g. regulating the nervous system) or taking a next step towards achieving an objective. We will continually review our work together and flexibly adapt as your autonomy grows, and your progress and confidence evolves.

Specialist areas include:

* Anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder (type 1 and 2), OCD and compulsive behaviours, trauma, addiction

* Relationship difficulties (drawing on psychodynamic understanding of Attachment styles)

* Enhancing confidence, self-esteem, self-compassion, and self-belief

* Neurodiversity: pre and post diagnoses, including strong experience in ADHD and Autism Coaching

* Strong experience of working with personality disorders including

* Leadership confidence, Imposter syndrome, perfectionism, enhancing self-belief and sense of identity, dreating optimal work-life balance

* Emotional dysregulation, relationships difficulties, anger management

* Strength clarification; resilience enhancement; addressing and reframing 'self limiting beliefs'

Who do you work with?

The ‘3 Cs’ principles of achieving clarity, confidence and change can be successfully applied to any emotional or strategic, personal or business challenge, regardless of age, gender, or professional status.  My approach works well for individuals who enjoy working creatively and collaboratively, are psychologically curious, and are motivated to achieve the changes that will enable them to thrive.  A commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is an important part of who I am to my core personal and professional values.

What happens when I contact you?

We will have a free of charge 20 minute Zoom or phone call first of all. Research suggests that feeling confident and trusting within your relationship with your therapist or coach is closely linked with successful outcomes, so it's important for me that you feel confident my approach feels right for you.  We will discuss how therapeutic coaching may help you achieve your goals, and talk about the number of sessions we may like to plan for.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
