About me

I am an Integrative Therapist utilising various modalities including Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Humanistic Theory. Along with my private work, I also have 5 years’ experience of working with young people in education settings.

The common reasons that young people approach counselling are for support with worries, low self-esteem, high anxiety, perceived anger issues, bereavement support and questions over sexuality and relationships.

I am qualified in Autism Education Support and commonly will see a myriad of the above in my Autistic clients with a sense of need to explore themselves existentially. In this context, I also have experience with working with clients with profound depression, self-harm and suicide ideation.

During sessions, we will often set achievable goals that the client looks forward too and will be empowered by. I work holistically with an awareness of diet, sleep, current work load and stresses as well as historical timelines of events that matter to the client. Commonly, I will also look at dream analysis and a deeper exploration of the client using Transactional Analysis and strength finding work. Clients can then start predicting how they may react to new situations that feel safe and validated in those moments as well as acknowledging their growth and take pride in this.

I am a huge supporter of using art in therapy to facilitate communication and growth especially in self-esteem and social communication, thus promoting secure attachments, a sense of self and an inner resilience that can positively impact the rest of the clients life.

It takes a huge amount of courage to begin a therapeutic journey. I wish you all the best in yours.

Training, qualifications & experience

Due to the nature of the education settings have previously worked in, and the number of Special Educational Needs students I have supported over the years, the ability to differentiate the session is of paramount importance and something I can also achieve with ease.

I hold a Level Four Therapeutic Counselling Diploma and I am Working towards my level five in Independent Practice. I am BACP affiliated.

I pride myself in working in a highly professional and discreet manner and hold all necessary qualifications, insurance and ethical framework affiliation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
