About me
If you're struggling with anxiety that won't switch off, grief that doesn't fit the shape people expect, a life that's shifted under your feet — or the exhaustion of performing a version of yourself that was never really yours — you're in the right place.
I'm Zara, a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor and final year DPsych candidate at City St George's, University of London. I work with adults who are carrying more than they can easily name, in a way that's warm, collaborative, and grounded in research.
I won't apply a formula. I'll work with you — your history, your context, your pace.

- Depression and low mood
- Bereavement and grief — including complicated, ambiguous, and disenfranchised grief
- Life transitions — relationship endings, parenthood, career change, retirement, loss of identity
- Stress and burnout
- Societal pressure and perfectionism
- Low self-esteem and self-worth
- Identity and self-concept
- Relationship difficulties
- Family dynamics and attachment patterns
- Cultural adjustment and acculturation
- Trauma and PTSD
- Loneliness and isolation
- Anger management
- Work-related stress
MY APPROACH
I work relationally and collaboratively, drawing on person-centred and CBT-informed approaches. Rather than applying a fixed model, I adapt to what each person actually needs.
I believe therapy works best when there's a genuine sense of connection between client and therapist. I take the fit seriously — and if after our initial consultation I don't think I'm the right person for what you need, I'll tell you honestly and point you somewhere better.

Training, qualifications & experience
Training & Qualifications
I hold a BSc in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Person-Centred and Experiential Counselling, and I am a registered member of the BACP. I am currently completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (expected 2026), with a research focus on identity, displacement, and the experience of motherhood across cultures.
My doctoral training has sharpened my thinking around identity — how it forms, how it fractures under pressure, and how people find their way back to a coherent sense of self. This runs through everything I do clinically, whether someone is grieving, navigating a major life change, or simply feeling lost in their own life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
