About me

Hi, I'm Zina and my practice is called Another View Counselling. I have been doing this for a little while now and I can honestly say it never ceases to amaze me how counselling can really help you to feel listened to and more importantly understood.

It could be you are feeling overwhelmed with something or are struggling with certain issues like anxiety, depression or feeling confused and as your counsellor, this is where I can help. I will provide a safe space for you to explore what it is that you are struggling with. I will listen to you with empathy and you can share your thoughts knowing there will be no judgement. I will provide a safe environment and an opportunity for you to release those emotions and feelings you may be finding difficult to process.

Recently, I have worked within Bedfordshire Police offering counselling and psychotherapy to the officers and staff and in addition to this, I have also volunteered and supported a local Hospice offering grief and bereavement counselling to bereaved families.

If you are experiencing any kind of issues please feel free to get in touch with me, as I can help you to process the feelings you may be experiencing.

Through counselling, you can begin to understand those feelings that keep resurfacing. Perhaps it could be something that happened to you in the past. Or it could even be something you want to achieve in the future and you are just holding back or are unsure about. Counselling can help you understand yourself and your behaviours on a more profound level and as you develop your self-awareness your challenges can become clearer.

Discovering what is important for us occasionally gets forgotten as we can all have a tendency to people please and lose sight of what we are actually striving for. This is very common, but discovering our true-self can unlock emotions of feeling stuck and potentially lead us to live a happier life filled with more positive relationships.

My aim is to help you find that self-compassion when high expectations and high standards have been either placed on you or adopted by you. I believe that empowering you will help you to ultimately make the right decisions for yourself.

At Another View Counselling, you will be treated with kindness, due care and respect. My practice abides by the ethical framework of the BACP and I offer sessions to best suit you, either via face to face, online over Zoom or via the telephone. My therapy room is based in Hoddesdon and has ample parking for you.

Counselling doesn't have to be a daunting experience. I understand that you may feel nervous at first. However, with the right environment and my holistic therapeutic approach, I believe we can work at a pace that is right for you so you can resolve the emotional conflict you may be experiencing.

Here is a client testimonial of a person who had just experienced a bereavement and was referred to me from a local hospice:

"I am extremely grateful for all the help that Zina has provided, from listening attentively to responding in a caring manner. I feel that with her help I am now better able to cope with my feelings of grief and loss. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone who is in a similar situation as myself to Zina for counselling." Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

With Another View Counselling you are not obliged to sign up for sessions if you feel I may not be the right counsellor for you. This is why our introductory quick telephone call will be free of charge.

I want you to feel comfortable that you have made the right choice in choosing me as your counsellor. Likewise, if I feel I am not the right counsellor for you, it would be unethical of me not to tell you when we have our initial session. If this is the case, I will endeavour to refer you on to someone who is more suitable for you.

In our first counselling session, we will try to get to know each other and it will also give me the opportunity to assess your therapeutic needs. There will be a simple form for you to complete beforehand but don't worry, this can also be completed within the counselling session.

It is absolutely normal to feel apprehensive when seeking counselling. However, I do believe that making that first step can be the most hardest yet the most important one to make.

Our sessions don't have to be long-term, they can also be short-term too. I will be simply guided by what is right for you and your decision.

How I deliver therapy:

Long term sessions, Long-term face-to-face work, Online counselling, Short term sessions, Short-term face-to-face work, Telephone counselling, Time-limited sessions.

If we arrange to have a therapeutic counselling relationship, I will always try to give you notice of any future holidays, so we can re-arrange your sessions accordingly to what suits you best.

Our working contract will be flexible so it can be adapted to what suits you and what is right for you.
