About me

Hello, I am Vicky and I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) offering therapy to children, young people, families, and adults.

My own life experiences have shaped me into the warm and empathetic therapist I am today. I provide a confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore and work through the challenges, fears, or difficulties that may be affecting your wellbeing. I am here to support you and guide you on your therapy journey, helping you move towards meaningful and lasting change.

I continue to be struck by the effectiveness of therapy and its ability to support people from all walks of life, across a wide range of difficulties.

Why Seek Help?

At different points in our lives, many of us experience feeling stuck, overwhelmed, lost, or unsure of how to move forward. When things begin to feel too much, it can be easy to believe, “This is just how things are now.” The good news is that it does not have to stay that way.

Your emotional and mental wellbeing matters. You do not need to wait until things reach a crisis point to seek support, and no concern is ever too small to bring to therapy. If something is affecting you, it is important.

Choosing to reach out is often the first and most difficult step, and it is also a powerful act of self-care. If you are looking for a safe and confidential space to explore what is going on for you, I would be glad to support you.

What Are the Benefits of CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a well-established and evidence-based approach that can help with a wide range of mental health difficulties and life challenges.

Some of the key benefits include:

Focused on the present - CBT helps individuals understand and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour in the present, while also recognising how past experiences may continue to influence them.

Structured and collaborative - Sessions follow a clear structure, with therapist and client working together to set meaningful and achievable goals.

Identifying unhelpful thought patterns - CBT supports individuals to recognise cognitive distortions such as all-or-nothing thinking or catastrophising, which can contribute to emotional distress.

Practical coping skills - CBT provides tools and strategies to help manage anxiety, low mood, stress, and everyday challenges.

Tailored to the individual - Therapy is adapted to each person’s unique needs, circumstances, and goals, whether the client is a child, young person, adult, or family.

Time-limited and focused - CBT is often a shorter-term approach, with many individuals noticing improvements within a limited number of sessions.

Empowering and skills-based - CBT encourages individuals to take an active role in managing their mental wellbeing and to build skills that support long-term change.

Effective and lasting - Many clients report enduring benefits and continue to use the skills gained in therapy beyond the end of sessions.

What to Expect in Your First Session

The first session provides an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.

During this session, we will explore:

  • What has brought you to therapy
  • Your current concerns and symptoms
  • What you would like to gain from therapy

I will explain how CBT works, discuss confidentiality, and outline what the therapy process may look like for you. Where appropriate, questionnaires may be used to gain a clearer understanding of your experiences and how they are affecting you.

We will also begin to set goals together that will guide our work. CBT is a collaborative approach, and you are encouraged to ask questions, share your thoughts, and be actively involved in shaping your therapy.

This session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether CBT, and working with me, feels like the right fit for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
