About me

My name is Tom (he/him), and I am an integrative therapist. I work with adults, at practices in London Bridge and Crystal Palace, and online via Zoom.

Areas that I can address:

  • Anxiety, panic and stress
  • Low confidence and low self esteem
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Depression and low mood
  • Relationships
  • Trauma
  • Neurodiversity
  • Difficulties in career and work
  • Feelings of loneliness, emptiness and lack of direction
  • Existential Questions
  • Working with your identities (Gender/Sexual/Relational/Cultural)

About me and my practice:

I’m an integrative therapist, which means that I draw from a wide range of experiences, traditions and ideas to inform our work.

I work relationally. This means that, among many factors that can bring about positive and lasting change, I focus on the relationship between therapist and client, and that relationship’s capacity for insight and healing.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life, your own difficulties and what path to take in order to improve. My role is to facilitate you in seeking and achieving your own personal growth, in the way that feels best for you. This is the foundational practice of what is known as Person Centred Therapy.

I think about how your past might be showing up in your present and what that might mean for your life in the here and now. I draw from psychodynamic traditions for this, and in particular Attachment Theory. Attachment Theory is based on observing how we are in relationship to others, how we were in relationships in our past, and so how we can be more fulfilled in our current and future relationships once we notice our own tendencies.

I am committed to non-discriminatory practice and welcome clients of all identities, cultures, faiths, genders and sexualities, as well as those with health conditions and disabilities. My approach seeks to work with the power dynamics in relationships that are shaped by the wider society in which we live.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP. I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre.

What is therapy with me like?

Chiefly, therapy is about being listened to, in an open, safe and nurturing environment.

My hope is that therapy allows you to know yourself better, to feel seen and heard in the fullness of what it means to be you. Together, we can try to deepen our understanding of that experience, and process that which might need attention. We can then use that knowledge together, to think about your life, and the choices your make about how you want to live it.

The process is different for every person, and I am here to facilitate your unique journey. This can involve working at the edge of what feels comfortable. My role in the sessions is to respond to your particular needs, however they present themselves.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
