About me
Hello and a warm welcome to you. My name is Susannah. I’m a person-centred counsellor and the founder of Root and Flow Counselling.
I provide online and in person counselling sessions for women and girls (age 13+) in Combrook (CV35 9HP) - a peaceful village situated between Wellesbourne and Kineton, and just 15 minutes from Leamington Spa and Stratford upon Avon.
I offer a free introductory phone or video call. Click on the 'Book intro call' link to see my availability.
So, what has brought you here? You might be feeling lost or stuck in whatever you are experiencing. Wanting to move in a new direction but not sure how to do so. You could be feeling overwhelmed, unable to relax and switch off. Maybe you feel out of control – subjected to crushing waves of panic that send you spiralling. You find yourself being easily unsettled, agitated, frightened?
Perhaps you don’t feel much at all. You’re withdrawn and foggy, going through the motions without awareness. You feel lonely even when surrounded by people – your authentic thoughts and feelings hidden within. You distract yourself to escape the incessant noise of your mind. A mind that criticises you. A mind that leads you to doubt yourself. You feel a longing to connect but your traumatic experiences have taught you that it’s not safe to be vulnerable. Perhaps you push people away when they get too close or maybe you consistently try to please them, abandoning your own needs in the hopes of being accepted.
How can counselling help?
The therapeutic relationship that I offer you, abundant in empathy, acceptance and authenticity, creates a safe space from which you can process and explore your challenges at your own pace. I journey alongside you as you discover your own insights and move towards a greater self-awareness and acceptance of who you are.
I maintain a curious perspective towards you and your story. This encourages you to move beyond your limiting self-judgment and make sense of your past experiences, relationships, decisions, emotions, thoughts and behavioural patterns.
I tailor my approach to your specific needs, carefully listening and honouring you as an individual. I consider your whole experience, taking into account the interconnection of your physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. Together, we will gently unearth the root causes of your distress, resulting in personal growth and long-term change.
I believe that healthy processing takes place in the body as well as the mind. Therefore, as we talk about your difficulties, I can support you to tune in to your emotions and bodily sensations as they arise in the present moment.
I can offer education on Polyvagal Theory in which the knowledge you gain about your autonomic nervous system can empower you to respond effectively to dysregulated states (chronic anxiety and depression) with a myriad of self-regulating tools that work for you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
