About me
I’m Steve, a person centred and existential counsellor based in Chelmsford, Essex.
Reaching out for help takes courage, especially when life has taught you that showing vulnerability isn’t safe. I offer a space where that changes.
I work with adults who are carrying some of the heaviest experiences life throws at us - relationship breakdown, separation from children, trauma and the quiet but relentless weight of feeling stuck.
My approach draws on person centred principles which is the belief that you are the expert in your own life, alongside existential thinking, which explores the deeper questions of meaning, identity and what it means to live fully, even in the midst of difficulty.
Together these create a space that is honest, unhurried and genuinely responsive to who you are.
Around 65% of the clients I work with are men, and I have a particular understanding of the specific pressures men face when it comes to seeking support: the cultural expectation to manage alone, the stigma around emotional need, and the very real financial strain that often accompanies separation and family breakdown.
You don’t have to have it together to walk through the door. You just have to show up with me.
I offer sessions face to face in Chelmsford and online for clients across the UK. The premises has free parking and is wheelchair accesible.
