About me
HELLO, I'M SOPHIE
Welcome. Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but you don't have to work things out alone.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or simply not feeling like yourself, therapy can provide a space to pause, make sense of what's happening, and find a way forward.
I work online via Zoom with adults throughout London, Essex and across the UK. Many of my clients are busy professionals based in London and the South East who value the flexibility of online therapy and appreciate having a dedicated space to reflect, process challenges and focus on their wellbeing.
I support people experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, life transitions, neurodiversity, and the emotional challenges that can arise from work, family life and past experiences.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. Therapy with me feels like a genuine conversation rather than a clinical experience. I don't believe therapy has to feel formal or full of clichés. My clients often tell me they appreciate having a real conversation with someone who listens carefully, understands their experiences, and works alongside them to find a way forward.
Over 20 years' counselling experience in Humanistic and Existential psychotherapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, and ongoing training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping clients understand different parts of themselves with greater compassion and self-awareness.
Whatever brings you to therapy, my aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, develop insight, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

SUPERVISION.
My approach to supervision is collaborative, reflective and supportive. I aim to provide a safe and encouraging space where supervisees can explore their client work, develop confidence, enhance clinical skills and reflect on their professional development. Drawing on Gibbs' Reflective Cycle and Hawkins and Shohet's Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, I encourage exploration of the therapeutic relationship, client dynamics, ethical considerations, practitioner self-awareness and the wider context of the work. My intention is to support supervisees in thinking deeply about their practice, recognising strengths, identifying learning opportunities and maintaining effective, ethical and compassionate client care.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Alongside my counselling and psychotherapy work, I have a longstanding personal and professional interest in mindfulness, meditation and Buddhist philosophy. As a practising Buddhist, I attend regular meditation groups and understand the value of developing greater awareness, self-compassion and acceptance in everyday life. For clients who are interested, mindfulness practices can be explored within therapy as a way of managing stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm.
I also have experience working with young people within educational settings, including school counselling and crisis support. This has given me valuable insight into the challenges faced by teenagers, young adults and their families.
Another area that interests me is how our early experiences continue to shape us throughout life. Sometimes we find ourselves reacting in ways that feel confusing or disproportionate to a situation. Exploring these patterns can help us understand unmet emotional needs, develop greater self-compassion and create new ways of relating to ourselves and others. My ongoing training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) complements this work by helping clients understand and work with different parts of themselves in a compassionate and constructive way.
